Linton Falls (North Yorkshire)
Linton is a village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. The population as of the 2011 census was 176. It lies not far from Grassington, just south of the River Wharfe, and is north of Skipton. Linton Beck runs through the village and then joins the Wharfe at Linton Falls. The beck is crossed by two Grade II listed bridges on the village green, and is overlooked by Fountaine's Hospital, a Grade II* listed chapel and almshouse built in the style of Sir John Vanburgh. There is also a public house, the Fountaine Inn. The parish church of Saint Michael and All Saints stands close to the River Wharfe. History Linton was historically a parish in Staincliffe Wapentake in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The ancient parish included the townships of Grassington, Hebden and Threshfield, all of which became separate civil parishes in 1866. Linton was transferred to North Yorkshire in 1974. Linton Falls Hydro
Linton Falls Hydro is a hydroelectric generating power station located on the Linton Falls Weir of the River Wharfe, near Grassington, North Yorkshire, England. The power station is located on the same site as a hydroelectric scheme that was first opened in 1909, but had closed by 1948. The new scheme, which opened in March 2012, uses the original building which is now a scheduled monument. History The first hydroelectric plant at Linton Falls was constructed in 1909 by the Grassington Electric Supply Company. It leased the upper weir at Linton Falls, one of the two weirs on the River Wharfe, from the owners of Linton Mill and installed a generating plant. Both weirs built up a head of water to power Linton Mill which was located on the lower weir, downstream from the upper weir. The plant was installed with a capacity of 20 kilowatts which was distributed on cables across the Wharfe up to Grassington on the north bank of the river (some upstream). The power was distrib ... Linton Falls (Oregon)
Linton Falls, is a multi-step waterfall of 8 tiers located in the heart of the Three Sisters Wilderness, just east of the North Sister volcano on Oregon Route 242 in Lane County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It totals 615 feet fall in eight drops, the tallest and last drop is 85 feet. The waters of Linton Falls drain into the Linton Lake along the McKenzie Pass corridor and one of the main destinations along the Proxy Falls trailhead. Several unnamed waterfalls continue upstream until reaching Duncan Falls, approximately 1 mile from the Upper Linton tier. Linton Falls has high sinuosity, frequent terraces, sloping terrains and is surrounded by thick forests, all of which makes it impossible to see in its entirety from a single view point.
