Andrew Linklater FAcSS (3 August 1949 – 5 March 2023) was a British international relations academic, and Woodrow Wilson Professor of International Politics at Aberystwyth University. In 2000, he was featured as one of the fifty thinkers in Martin Griffith's ''Fifty Key Thinkers in International Relations''. Early life and education Linklater was born on 3 August 1949 to Andrew Linklater and Isabella ''née'' Forsyth. He studied Politics and International Relations as an undergraduate at the University of Aberdeen. He then received an MA degree from the University of Aberdeen in 1971, a BPhil degree from Balliol College, University of Oxford in 1973, and a PhD degree from the London School of Economics in 1978. His PhD thesis was titled ''Obligations beyond the state: the individual, the state and humanity in international theory,'' and was later published as ''Men and Citizens in the Theory of International Relations''. Marjorie Linklater
Marjorie Linklater ( MacIntyre; 19 March 1909 – 29 June 1997) was a Scottish campaigner for the arts and environment on the island of Orkney. She gave up acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to get involved in conservation, education, and health matters as a county councillor for Ross and Cromarty County Council. In 1975, Linklater was elected chairman of the Orkney Heritage Society, devoting herself to campaigning for the arts environment, local heritage, and politics. She successfully opposed the mining of uranium and the dumping of nuclear waste off Orkney's west coast and was a founding member of the St Magnus Festival. The Orkney Heritage Society named a senior school award in Linklater's honour following her death. Michael Linklater (born September 25, 1982) is a retired Canadian basketball player. He last played for the Saskatchewan Rattlers in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). He is a Nehiyaw (Cree). Linklater received the 2018 Tom Longboat Award, which recognizes Aboriginal athletes "for their outstanding contributions to sport in Canada". Magnus Duncan Linklater, CBE (born 21 February 1942) is a Scottish journalist, writer, and former newspaper editor. Early life and education Linklater was born in Orkney, and is the son of Scottish writer Eric Linklater and arts campaigner Marjorie MacIntyre. He was brought up in Easter Ross, attending the local school at Nigg before moving to Belhaven Hill School in Dunbar, East Lothian, and then on to Eton College. Andro Ian Robert Linklater (10 December 1944 – 3 November 2013) was a Scottish non-fiction writer, historian and economic historian. Life He was the youngest son of Eric Linklater, a poet and Marjorie MacIntyre, an arts campaigner. His brother is journalist Magnus Linklater and his sisters include Kristin Linklater.
