Lincoln MK9
The Lincoln MK9 is a two-door concept coupe presented by Lincoln in 2001 at the New York International Auto Show, and was intended to explore the possibility of a new Mark Series model to succeed the discontinued Mark VIII. The MK9 was built by Italian coachbuilder Stola on a stretched version of Ford’s DEW architecture used in the Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird and was built to run and drive. The MK9 is rear-wheel drive, with a V8 engine paired to an automatic transmission, and four wheel independent suspension. The MK9 was designed under Lincoln design chief Gerry McGovern, with initial drawings by Marek Reichman and Adriana Monk. Lincoln Motor Company
Lincoln Motor Company, or simply Lincoln, is the luxury vehicle division of American automobile manufacturer Ford Motor Company. Marketed among the top luxury vehicle brands in the United States, Lincoln is positioned closely against its General Motors counterpart Cadillac. However, starting with the 2021 model year, they only offer SUV and crossover vehicles. The division helped to establish the personal luxury car segment with the 1940 Lincoln Continental. A concept car (also known as a concept vehicle or show vehicle) is a car made to showcase new styling or new technology. Concept cars are often exhibited at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not be produced. General Motors designer Harley Earl is generally credited with inventing the concept car, and did much to popularize it through its traveling Motorama shows of the 1950s. Concept cars never go into production directly. In modern times, all would have to undergo many changes before the design is finalized for the sake of practicality, safety, regulatory compliance, and cost. Corian
Corian is a brand of solid surface material created by DuPont. Its primary use is as a countertop, benchtop surface, wash basin, and wall panel. It is composed of acrylic polymer and alumina trihydrate (ATH), a material derived from bauxite ore. History Corian is the original material of this type, created by Donald Slocum, a chemist at DuPont, in 1967. His name appears on the patent issued in October 1968. Lincoln Continental
The Lincoln Continental is a series of mid-sized and full-sized luxury cars produced between 1939 and 2020 by Lincoln, a division of the American automaker Ford Motor Company. The model line was introduced following the construction of a personal vehicle for Edsel Ford, who commissioned a coachbuilt 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr convertible, developed as a vacation vehicle to attract potential Lincoln buyers. In what would give the model line its name, the exterior was designed with European "continental" styling elements, including a rear-mounted spare tire. In production for over 55 years across nine different decades, Lincoln has produced ten generations of the Continental. Marek Paul Reichman (born 1966) is a British industrial designer. He is chief creative officer and studio head at Aston Martin. Early life Reichman was born in Sheffield in the West Riding of Yorkshire to an English mother and Polish father. His father's job as a blacksmith and his family's love for cars influenced his interest in industrial design. He graduated from Teesside University in Middlesbrough with a 1st class honours degree in industrial design, then studied vehicle design at the Royal College of Art in London as the first Land Rover student. Independent Suspension
Independent suspension is any automobile suspension system that allows each wheel on the same axle to move vertically (i.e. reacting to a bump on the road) independently of the others. This is contrasted with a beam axle or deDion axle system in which the wheels are linked. "Independent" refers to the motion or path of movement of the wheels or suspension. It is common for the left and right sides of the suspension to be connected with anti-roll bars or other such mechanisms. The anti-roll bar ties the left and right suspension spring rates together but does not tie their motion together. Most modern vehicles have independent front suspension (IFS). Lincoln Mark VIII
The Lincoln Mark VIII is a grand touring luxury sport coupe that was marketed by Lincoln from the 1993 to 1998 model years. The first generation of the Mark series branded entirely as a Lincoln, the Mark VIII again served as a counterpart of the Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar. Though maintaining its traditional brand rivalry with the Cadillac Eldorado, the Mark VIII was also developed to become more competitive against luxury coupes from automakers around the world. Replacing the Fox platform of the Mark VII, the Mark VIII was the exclusive model to use the FN10 chassis, a derivative of the MN12 platform developed for the Thunderbird and Cougar.
