Limelight Health And Well-being Hub
Limelight is a community health centre in Old Trafford run by Trafford Housing Trust designed to improve the health outcomes of local people. It contains 81 extra care apartments, two GP surgeries, a public library, a community café, an optician, a pharmacy, a hair and beauty salon, and a 40-place children's nursery. There are event spaces that can be hired for weddings or business meetings. St Bride's Church and rectory has also relocated to the site. Construction It was built by Willmott Dixon and opened in 2017 by Lemn Sissay and Diane Modahl. Features and residents The apartments are restricted to people aged 55 and over who need care and support. Some are rented and some are leased. There are support staff on the premises at all times. Old Trafford is an area of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, which borders the cities of Manchester and Salford, south-west of Manchester city centre in the Historic counties of England, historic county of Lancashire. Trafford Housing Trust was a housing association based in Trafford. It was acquired by L&Q in 2019. It owned and managed about 9,000 properties. It also provided care and support for disabled people and ran sheltered housing and extra-care homes. It owned Laurus Homes, which still builds affordable homes for sale. It was created by a transfer of housing stock from Trafford Council in 2005. Commercial details Matthew Gardiner is the chief executive. Turnover for 2016/7 was £54.4 million, with an operating surplus of £12.4 million. In 2017 it completed a refinancing package of £275 million from Lloyds Bank, BlackRock, the Pension Insurance Corporation and the Yorkshire Building Society. Willmott Dixon is a British privately owned contracting, residential development and property support business. History The company was founded at Bassingbourn in Cambridgeshire by a bricklayer, John Willmott, in 1852. During the second half of the 19th century and much of the 20th century, the company remained small. Prior to 1987, the company was named ''John Willmott''. Lemn Sissay
Lemn Sissay FRSL (born 21 May 1967) is a British author and broadcaster. He was the official poet of the 2012 London Olympics, was chancellor of the University of Manchester from 2015 until 2022, and joined the Foundling Museum's board of trustees two years later, having previously been appointed one of the museum's fellows. He was awarded the 2019 PEN Pinter Prize. He has written a number of books and plays. Early life Sissay's mother, Yemarshet Sissay, arrived in Britain from Ethiopia in 1966. Diane Dolores Modahl (née Edwards, born 17 June 1966) is an English former middle-distance runner who specialised in the 800 metres. She won a gold medal in the 800 m at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, silver at the 1986 Commonwealth Games, and bronze at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. She finished third at the 1989 IAAF Grand Prix Final, fourth at the 1993 World Championships, and won the European Cup in 1994. She has also won six AAAs National 800 m titles.
