Denmark was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1991 with the song "", written by Michael Elo, and performed by Anders Frandsen. The Danish participating broadcaster, (DR), organised the 1991 in order to select its entry for the contest. Before Eurovision 1991 (DR) held the 1991 on 16 March at the Music Hall in Aarhus, hosted by Camilla Miehe-Renard and Mek Pek. Ten songs took part with the winner being decided by two rounds of televoting. In the first round the bottom five songs were eliminated, then the remaining five were voted on again to give the winner. DR (broadcaster)
DR (), officially the Danish Broadcasting Corporation in English, is a Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company. Founded in 1925 as a public-service organization, it is Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise. DR shares many of its organisational characteristics with its British counterpart, the BBC, on which it was largely modelled. DR is a founding member of the European Broadcasting Union. Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (), also known as Melodi Grand Prix or simply DMGP, is an annual music competition organised by the Danish public broadcaster DR since 1957, which determines for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and fourteen top-five placings. History With the introduction of a semi-final at the 2004 contest, and due to Denmark's absence from the 2003 contest, Denmark's 2004 representative, Tomas Thordarson, had to take part in the semi-final. Anders Frandsen (8 December 1960 – c. 1 January 2012) was a Danish musician, singer, actor and TV presenter. He was born in Copenhagen. Career Although Frandsen was not a trained actor, he appeared in theatre performances during the 1980s. He later became a TV presenter on Danish Kanal 2, alongside Camilla Miehe-Renard. Michael Elo is a Danish musician and voice actor. He composed the Danish Eurovision Song Contest 1991 entry, "''Lige der hvor hjertet slår''", which was performed by Anders Frandsen. Before that, Michael Elo had appeared several times in Eurovision as a backing singer for the Danish entries. Since his 1991 entry, Michael Elo was seen as one of the judges on the Danish "look-alike" talent competition "Stjerneskud" in 1995, and he has also voiced several cartoons in the Danish language, as well as written translated lyrics for Disney songs and more. Mek Pek (born 4 January 1964) is a Danish singer and actor from Aarhus. Mek started his career in 1979 in the punk band ''Lost Kids'' in which he played the bass. ''Lost Kids'' eventually dissolved as a band and in 1982 he started his own band called ''Mek Pek Party Band''. In 1995 he started The Allrights which he performed with under the name Mek Pek & The Allrights. Between 1990 and 2000 he worked with Kim Larsen and Peter A.G. Nielsen from the band Gnags. Birthe Kjær (born 1 September 1948) is a Danish singer. She finished second at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 1980, 1986 and 1987, before winning in 1989, and went on to finish third at the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest in Lausanne. Keld Heick
Keld Heick (born 24 February 1946 in Frederiksberg) is a Danish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known for his contribution to the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, where he has submitted over 30 songs. In 1963 Heick formed the band ''Keld & the Donkeys''. The band's big breakthrough came in 1966 with the song "Ved landsbyens gadekær" (eng. "At the village pond"). In 1976 he decided to merge his professional and personal life, when he made a duo with his wife Hilda Heick. They made their debut with the hit "Do you speak English?" and later had another hit with "Jeg ringer på fredag" (eng. "I'll call you this Friday"). Frans Bak (born 7 February 1958 Copenhagen, Denmark) is a Danish composer, choral conductor, saxophonist, and pianist. He is a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Music and has worked as a jazz performer and composer of film music. In 1994, he founded the composer's association ''Den 3. Vej''. Annette Vollmer Heick (born 12 November 1971) is a Danish television personality, journalist, singer and cartoon voice actress. She is the daughter of the entertainers Keld and Hilda Heick.
