Liga I Foreign Player Of The Year
The Foreign Player of the Year in Romania ( ro, Jucătorul străin al anului) is an association football award presented to players in Romania, which recognises the most outstanding List of foreign Liga I players, foreign player in the country each calendar year. It was started in 2008 by ''Gazeta Sporturilor'', a daily sports newspaper, and the winner is usually announced at the end of December. Other annual honours handed out by ''Gazeta Sporturilor'' include the Romanian Footballer of the Year (Gazeta Sporturilor), Romanian Footballer of the Year and the Romania Coach of the Year awards. Sebastián Rakán Dubarbier Bruschini (born 19 February 1986) is an Argentine former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Midfielder#Wide midfielder, left midfielder or Defender (association football)#Full-back, left back. He also held a French nationality law, French passport. Wesley Lopes da Silva (born 10 November 1980), known as Wesley, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a striker. Apart from his native country, he represented teams in Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Romania, Saudi Arabia and Colombia. Wesley spent the most successful part of his career with Romanian club Vaslui between 2009 and 2013, netting 61 times to become the Liga I top foreign goalscorer. He went on to add three more goals to his record with a later spell at Politehnica Iași, before being surpassed by compatriot Eric de Oliveira in 2020. For his performances in the country, Wesley was also twice named the league's Foreign Player of the Year. He won his only team trophy, the Crown Prince Cup, with Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal in 2013. Abdel Slem Billel Omrani ( ar, عبد السلام بلال عمراني; born 2 June 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liga I club FCSB. A product of the Marseille academy, Omrani made his Ligue 1 debut for the club in 2011. Harlem-Eddy Gnohéré (born 21 February 1988) is a French professional footballer who plays as a striker. Nicknamed "the Bison" due to his strong body frame, Gnohéré started his career as a junior in native France, and went on to compete in Switzerland, Belgium and Romania. Asociația Fotbal Club Astra Giurgiu (), commonly known as Astra Giurgiu or simply Astra, was a Romanian football club based in the city of Giurgiu, Giurgiu County.
