"Lifted" is a song by South Korean rapper and singer CL (rapper), CL. It was released through YG Entertainment on August 19, 2016, as her debut American single. Background The song was written by CL, Asher Roth, and Teddy Park, with the production being handled by the latter. It heavily samples the song "Method Man (song), Method Man" by Wu-Tang Clan. Critical reception Colette Bennett of ''The Daily Dot'' said "something about [the song] seems too simple" and went on to say that "CL's rapping is strong as usual" and "the song has a chill, reggae-inspired vibe". Billboard (magazine), ''Billboard''s Tamar Herman stated that the song "diverges sharply from CL's image as one of South Korea's most prominent female rappers and eschews her typical aggressive style. Lee Chae-rin (born February 26, 1991), better known by her stage name CL, is a South Korean rapper, singer, and songwriter. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she spent much of her early life in Japan and France. She rose to fame as a member of the girl group 2NE1, who debuted in 2009 under YG Entertainment. They became one of the most popular South Korean girl groups worldwide and one of the List of best-selling girl groups, best-selling girl groups. The Hello Bitches Tour (stylized as Hello Bi+ches Tour) was the debut concert tour of South Korean rapper and singer CL (singer), CL. The tour visited nine cities in 2016 in the United States and Canada, kicking off in New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on October 29 and concluding in Toronto at the Sound Academy on November 14.
