Translators Association Of China
The Translators Association of China (TAC) () is a national association for translation studies in China. Founded in the 1980s TAC was part of the academic response to the national Economic Reform in 1978. The incumbent President of TAC's 6th Executive Committee is the former Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, who in the meantime chairs the Foreign Affairs Committee of China. TAC routinely hosts annual national symposium on varied topics related to translation and interpretation theories and practices. To facilitate the academic communication, it publishes bi-monthly periodical '' Chinese Translators Journal'' since 1983. In addition, the Association regulates the domestic translation service market through its Translation Service Committee, which was set up in 2003, in order to promote ethical business practices. Wang Zhiliang (translator)
Wang Zhiliang (; 19 June 1928 – 2 January 2023) was a Chinese-Australian literary translator who had been honored by the Government of the Russian Federation. Wang rendered a great number of Russian literary works into Chinese for almost five decades, including 30 novels. Wang was one of the main translators of the works of the Russian novelists Ivan Turgenev and Alexander Pushkin into Chinese. For his contributions to the introduction of Russian literature to foreign readers, he was honored with a Pushkin Medal by the Government of the Russian Federation in 1999. Liu Mingjiu
Liu Mingjiu (; April 1934 – 15 December 2022) was a Chinese translator. He was the first Chinese to translate Jean-Paul Sartre's works into Chinese, and was also known as the first person in Jean-Paul Sartre's research in China. He was among the first few in China who translated the works of Albert Camus's into Chinese language. His translations are well respected by domestic and international scholars. In his later career, he was a researcher of the Institute of Foreign Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, director of its Southern Europe and Latin American Literature Research Department and professor of its Foreign Languages Department of the Graduate School. Yi Lijun
Yi Lijun (; 4 December 1934 – 7 February 2022), also known by her pen name Han Yi (), was a Chinese translator who had been honored by the Polish Government. Yi was one of the foremost translators of Polish fiction. For her contributions to the introduction of Polish literature to foreign readers, she was honoured with the Polish Literature Order, the Knight's Cross (2010), the Outstanding Contribution to Promote Polish Literature Award (2007) and the Transatlantic Prize.
