Life On Other Planets
''Life on Other Planets'' is the fourth studio album by English alternative rock band Supergrass. It is the first album that includes Rob Coombes as an official member of the band, and originally went under the working title of ''Get Lost''. The American edition of the album included many bonus tracks and rare live editions. One of these live editions became infamous when it was discovered you can hear a gunshot in the background of the song. It peaked at #9 in the UK charts. Background The band hired an outside producer, Tony Hoffer, for the record, having felt that their last release, ''Supergrass (album), Supergrass'', lacked some of the urgency of their previous albums: "He helped us keep the takes quite short and sweet", says Danny Goffey. "We really didn't mess around because he kept us moving. If we had done it on our own again, we'd just get really analytical and start crying and trying to mend things that weren't broken." Supergrass
Supergrass are an English rock band formed in 1993. For the majority of the band's tenure, the line-up consisted of brothers Gaz (lead vocals, guitar) and Rob Coombes (keyboards), Mick Quinn (bass, backing vocals) and Danny Goffey (drums, backing vocals). Originally a three-piece, the band was officially joined by Rob Coombes in 2002. The band signed to Parlophone Records in 1994 and produced '' I Should Coco'' (1995), the best-selling debut album for the label since the Beatles' '' Please Please Me''. Their first album's fourth single, " Alright", was an international hit. The band went on to release five more albums: '' In It for the Money'' (1997), ''Supergrass'' (1999), '' Life on Other Planets'' (2002), '' Road to Rouen'' (2005) and '' Diamond Hoo Ha'' (2008), as well as a compilation called '' Supergrass Is 10'' (2004). Marc Bolan
Marc Bolan ( ; born Mark Feld; 30 September 1947 – 16 September 1977) was an English guitarist, singer-songwriter and poet. He was a pioneer of the glam rock movement in the early 1970s with his band T. Rex (band), T. Rex. Bolan strongly influenced artists of many genres, including glam rock, Punk rock, punk, post-punk, New wave music, new wave, indie rock, Britpop and alternative rock. The Sweet
Sweet (known as the Sweet until the early 1970s) are a British glam rock band who rose to prominence in the 1970s. Their best-known line-up consisted of lead vocalist Brian Connolly, bassist Steve Priest, guitarist Andy Scott and drummer Mick Tucker. Power Pop
Power pop (also typeset as powerpop) is a subgenre of rock music and form of pop rock based on the early music of bands such as the Who, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Byrds. ''Under the Radar'' is an American music magazine that features interviews with accompanying photo-shoots. Each issue includes opinion and commentary of the indie music scene as well as reviews of books, DVDs, and albums. The magazine posts web-exclusive interviews and reviews on its website. Items are reviewed based on a rating system in which each album, book, and DVD receives a rating from 1 to 10. The magazine has been in publication since late 2001 and is issued three times per year. The magazine was founded by co-publishers (and husband and wife) Mark Redfern and Wendy Lynch Redfern, who currently run the magazine.
