Liers In Wait
Liers in Wait were a Gothenburg, Sweden-based death metal band active between 1990 and 1995. The group was formed by Kristian Wåhlin after the dissolution of Grotesque, a precursor to At the Gates, and for a very brief time featured the band's core members (Tomas Lindberg, Anders Björler and Alf Svensson). By the time songwriting materialized for the EP ''Spiritually Uncontrolled Art'' in 1992, the line-up consisted of Wåhlin and Johan Österberg (guitars), Mattias Gustavsson (bass guitar) and Hans Nilsson (drums). Christofer Johnsson from symphonic death metal band Therion would lend his vocals for the studio recording. The band played two shows in Poland and produced a Slayer cover for a record company compilation, but due to instability of the line-up, the group ultimately dissolved in 1995. Anders Björler
Anders Björler (born 26 February 1973) is a Swedish musician. He is best known as the lead guitarist in the metal bands The Haunted and At the Gates, alongside his bass-playing twin brother Jonas Björler. Björler has also directed, edited and produced music videos, documentaries and in-the-studio features for bands such as In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and Meshuggah, as well as his own bands. Career At the Gates (1990–1996, 2007–2017, 2022–present) Björler was a founding member of the melodic death metal band At the Gates with his twin brother Jonas Björler, as well as Tomas Lindberg, Alf Svensson, and Adrian Erlandsson. Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal). The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals (differing from traditional death metal) alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. Kristian Wåhlin
Kristian Wåhlin (born 4 December 1971) is a Swedish musician, singer, graphic designer and album cover artist for many bands in the extreme metal scene worldwide. He is often credited under his pseudonym Necrolord. Biography Wåhlin's interest in art began while attending Schillerska Grammar School, a secondary educational institution in central Gothenburg. He has referenced Romantic and Renaissance painters like Caspar David Friedrich, Albrecht Dürer and Hieronymus Bosch as early influences. This interest also coincided with the time in which he studied music. At the age of 17, Wåhlin formed Grotesque (as guitarist) with school friend Tomas Lindberg on vocals, Alf Svensson on guitar, and Tomas Eriksson on drums. Daniel Erlandsson
Daniel John Erlandsson (born 22 May 1976) is a Swedish musician, best known as the drummer in the melodic death metal band Arch Enemy and as former drummer of extreme metal bands Carcass and Brujeria. His early work includes drumming on the In Flames album ''Subterranean'' (1995). He has also played for other bands, most notably Eucharist, Liers in Wait, Diabolique, Armageddon (featuring Christopher Amott of Arch Enemy), Revengia and The End. Erlandsson was born in Malmö. His older brother is Adrian Erlandsson, the drummer of At the Gates, The Haunted, Brujeria, Paradise Lost and Vallenfyre and the former drummer of Cradle of Filth. Alf Svensson (guitarist)
Alf Svensson is a Sweden, Swedish heavy metal music, heavy metal guitarist. He initially played in Oral (band), Oral from 1984 to 1989. He temporarily entered Grotesque (band), Grotesque and Liers in Wait before joining At the Gates in 1990. He was their guitarist until 1993, in 1994, he reformed Oral to record an EP. He then formed Oxiplegatz, and went on to release three albums under this name. He currently works as art director in First Planet Company (MMO Entropia Universe). At the Gates (1990–1993) Bandmember Anders Björler accredits Svensson as a "major songwriter" for At the Gates' first three albums, saying he believes that "he is a great musician", and expressed admiration for Svensson's music.
