Judo At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's 100 Kg
The men's 100 kg judo competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held on August 14 at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium. Preliminary rounds started at 12:00 pm CST. Repechage finals, semifinals, bouts for bronze medals and the final were held at 8:00 pm CST. This event was the second-heaviest of the men's judo weight classes, limiting competitors to a maximum of 100 kilograms of body mass. Like all other judo events, bouts lasted five minutes. If the bout was still tied at the end, it was extended for another five-minute, sudden-death period; if neither judoka scored during that period, the match is decided by the judges. The tournament bracket consisted of a single-elimination contest culminating in a gold medal match. There was also a repechage to determine the winners of the two bronze medals. Competition format The main bracket consisted of a single elimination tournament, culminating in the gold medal match. Two bronze medals were awarded at the taekwondo competitions. Ezedin Belgasem Faraj Tlish ( ar, عز الدين بلقاسم فرج طليش; April 5, 19821 August 2011) was a Libyan taekwondo practitioner. Tlish was among thousands of civilians who were killed during the Libyan Civil War in 2011. Tlish made his official debut for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he competed for the men's flyweight category (58 kg).
