Lewis Allaire Scott
Lewis Allaire Scott (February 11, 1759 – March 17, 1798) was an American politician. Early life Scott was the son of John Morin Scott (1730–1784) and Helena ( Rutgers) Scott. His elder sister, Mary Morin Scott, married John Litchfield and, after his death, Charles McKnight. His father was the only child of John Scott, a Manhattan merchant, and Marian (née Morin) Scott. His maternal grandparents were Petrus Rutgers and Helena (née Hooglant) Rutgers. Career After serving as Deputy Secretary of State of New York, Scott succeeded his father to become as the second Secretary of State of New York in 1784, serving until his death in office in 1798. Personal life On January 18, 1785, he married Julianna Sitgreaves, a daughter of William Sitgreaves and Susanna ( Deshone) Sitgreaves. She was also sister to U.S. Representative Samuel Sitgreaves. Everett Scott
Lewis Everett Scott (November 19, 1892 – November 2, 1960), nicknamed "Deacon", was an American professional baseball player. A shortstop, Scott played in Major League Baseball for 12 seasons as a member of the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds, from 1914 through 1926. Scott batted and threw right-handed. Scott served as captain of both the Red Sox and Yankees, who have become fierce rivals. He compiled a lifetime batting average of .249, hitting 20 home runs with 551 runs batted in in 1,654 games. He led American League shortstops in fielding percentage seven straight seasons (1916–22) and appeared in 1,307 consecutive games from June 20, 1916, through May 5, 1925, setting a record later broken by Lou Gehrig. , it is still the third-longest streak in history.
