Levi The Poet
Levi Morgan MacAllister (born July 26, 1989), who goes by the stage name Levi the Poet, is an American spoken word artist. His first release, ''Werewolves'', was released independently in 2009. The subsequent release, an extended play, ''Monologues'', was released by Come&Live! Records, in 2011. He released a studio album with Come & Live Records, '' Seasons'', in 2012. His follow-up studio album, '' Correspondence (A Fiction)'', was released independently, in 2014. Early life MacAllister was born as Levi Morgan MacAllister, on July 26, 1989, the son of a preacher, Mark Stephen MacAllister, and his mother, Jody McEwen MacAllister, where he is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is an older brother to sister, Bree. His father died on January 7, 2011, by committing suicide, and this has led MacAllister to be an advocate of mental health awareness, in the fight for suicide prevention. My Epic
My Epic is an American Christian rock band from Charlotte, North Carolina started in 2005. They released an independent EP in 2006 entitled ''This Is Rescue'', and two successive albums and one EP with Dreamt Records entitled ''I Am Undone'' (2008), ''Yet'' (2010) and 2011's ''Broken Voice'' EP. In 2013, the band released their debut album with Facedown Records entitled ''Behold'' that has seen commercial success. Background The members of My Epic began working together as early as 1998, under the name the Right Wing Conspiracy, which later became Shaddai. It wasn't until 2004, after the band played their first successful show before a few hundred fans, did the band become My Epic. Hotel Books is an American spoken-word project from Porterville, California revolving around the poetry of Cam Smith. The project is often presented on tour as a full band, but has also been shown as a solo project of Cam Smith. History The band's InVogue Records debut "I'm Almost Happy Here, But I Never Feel at Home" was released July 1, 2014, via InVogue Records. The album received mostly positive reviews, as well as earned the band their first Billboard chartings; No. 9 on Alternative New Artists and No. 20 on Heatseekers, for the album's debut week. Their next effort, "Run Wild, Young Beauty," was released on April 7, 2015, and spent three total weeks on the Billboard charts. Spoken word refers to an oral poetic performance art that is based mainly on the poem as well as the performer's aesthetic qualities. It is a late 20th century continuation of an ancient oral artistic tradition that focuses on the aesthetics of recitation and word play, such as the performer's live intonation and voice inflection. Spoken word is a "catchall" term that includes any kind of poetry recited aloud, including poetry readings, poetry slams, jazz poetry, and hip hop music, and can include comedy routines and prose monologues.
