''Let's Get Serious'' is the first studio album by American hip hop group Party Fun Action Committee. It was released on Definitive Jux on July 1, 2003. The concept album documents a day in the life of two record label executives played by Blockhead and Jeremy Gibson listening to a collection of demo tapes. Critical reception Johnny Loftus of AllMusic gave the album 4 out of 5 stars, stating that "while the raps throughout are often impressive (if a little sophomoric), it's the beats PFAC has come up with that really sell ''Let's Get Serious'' book of inside jokes." Nathan Rabin of ''The A.V. Club'' commented that "''Let's Get Serious'' recalls ''The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands''". Party Fun Action Committee is an American hip hop group consisting of Blockhead and Jer. History Party Fun Action Committee released the first studio album, '' Let's Get Serious'', on Definitive Jux in 2003. The album peaked at number 7 on the CMJ Hip-Hop chart. Definitive Jux
Definitive Jux was a record label based in New York City. It was co-founded in 1999 by El-P and Amaechi Uzoigwe. History Definitive Jux was initially known as Def Jux. However, popular hip hop label Def Jam Recordings sued Def Jux over the name similarity in 2001. This lawsuit was settled out of court and the name was officially changed to Definitive Jux. In February 2010, El-P announced that the label, although it will carry on selling its catalog and merchandise, would be put "on hiatus" as a traditional record label, and that it would be going through some changes in order to keep up with the evolution of the music industry. He also announced that he was stepping down as artistic director of Definitive Jux to focus on producing and being a full-time artist. Blockhead (music Producer)
Tony Simon (born October 8, 1976), better known by his stage name Blockhead, and formerly known as Funky Omelet, is an American hip hop record producer and DJ from Manhattan, New York. Aside from his solo efforts released on the Ninja Tune label, he is most associated with producing tracks for Aesop Rock. He has been a member of the groups such as Party Fun Action Committee and The Mighty Jones. Biography Simon was born and raised in Downtown Manhattan. He is the son of the late Sidney Simon, a well-known sculptor in New York City, and Renee Adriance, a social worker. He has one brother and five half siblings. At a young age, he loved hip hop in both the lyrical and musical aspects. In his early teens, Simon and his friends formed a group called the Overground, where he started making music. ''The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands'' is the fourth studio album released by the American rock band the Turtles. Produced by Chip Douglas (who returned to work with the Turtles after a brief stint shepherding The Monkees' transition into a live band), it was released in November 1968 by White Whale Records. It includes John Barbata's final recorded performances with the band; he left shortly after its release to join Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
