Leningrad Regional Art Exhibition (1964)
Zonal Art Exhibition "Leningrad" (Leningrad, 1964) (russian: Зональная выставка "Ленинград" 1964 года) became one of the most significant, successful and productive events in the history of Soviet art exhibitions of the 1960s through the 1980s. The exhibition took place in State Russian Museum. History and organization The Zonal Art Exhibition "Leningrad" was opened at November 3, 1964. Organization and preparation of the Zonal Exhibition engaged a specially formed Exhibition Committee which consisted of 56 of the most authoritative art-experts. Among them were Mikhail Anikushin, Boris Korneev, Anatoli Levitin, Yuri Neprintsev, Gleb Savinov, Joseph Serebriany, Nadezhda Shteinmiller, Mikhail Trufanov, Yuri Tulin, Boris Ugarov, Vecheslav Zagonek, Alexander Zaytsev, and others. Taisia Afonina
Taisia Kirillovna Afonina (russian: Таи́сия Кири́лловна Афо́нина; 13 May 1913 – 19 April 1994) was a Ukrainian and Russian painter and watercolorist. She lived and worked in Leningrad, was a member of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists (before 1992 - the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation), and is regarded as one of the representatives of the Leningrad school of painting. Biography Afonina was born on 13 May 1913 in the city Nikolaev, Kherson Governorate, of the Russian Empire (present-day Mykolaiv, Ukraine), in the family of master Shipyard "Navel" (after October Revolution Shipyard named Marty). In 1931 Taisia Afonina graduated from nine-year school in city Taganrog, and came to Leningrad to obtain an art education. Nikolai Brandt
Nikolai Nikolaevich Brandt (russian: Николай Николаевич Брандт; December 26, 1917, Petrograd – March 20, 1975, Leningrad) was a Soviet Russian painter and stage decorator. He lived and worked in Leningrad. He was a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists and is regarded as a representative of the Leningrad school of painting, known for his landscape paintings. Biography Brandt studied at the Tavricheskaya Art School from 1935 to 1939. In 1948 he graduated from the Repin Institute of Arts in the workshop of Mikhail Bobyshov.
