Legislative District Of Oriental Mindoro
The legislative districts of Oriental Mindoro are the representations of the province of Oriental Mindoro in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first and second congressional districts. History Prior to gaining separate representation, areas now under the jurisdiction of Oriental Mindoro were represented under the lone district of the undivided Mindoro Province from 1898 to 1951. The enactment of Republic Act No. 505 on June 13, 1950 split the old Mindoro Province into Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro, and provided each of them separate representation in Congress. Puerto Galera, officially the Municipality of Puerto Galera (), is a municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. Calapan
Calapan, officially the City of Calapan (), is a component city and the capital of the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 145,786 people making it the most populous in Oriental Mindoro and second in the entire Mindoro Island after San Jose in Occidental Mindoro. The city is also the regional center of Mimaropa region, as well as its second biggest city (after Puerto Princesa). Baco, Oriental Mindoro
Baco, officially the Municipality of Baco (), is a municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 39,817 people. History The name “Baco” of the municipality rooted from two different Filipino words. The first is its origin from the word, “paco”, an edible fern reported to be abundant in the municipality. Its second origin, as told from folk stories by the elders, was from the word “baku-bako”, which means rough road. Arnan Panaligan
Arnan Capulong Panaligan (born January 21, 1962) is a Filipino lawyer and politician. He has served as the representative for Oriental Mindoro's 1st congressional district since 2022 as part of the local Mindoro Bago Sarili party. He had previously served as the mayor of Calapan from 2013 to 2022, having previously been mayor from 1995 to 2004. He was also the Governor of Oriental Mindoro from 2004 to 2010. Early career Arnan Panaligan was born on January 21, 1962, in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, to Leandro and Araceli Panaligan. He completed his elementary and high school education at Holy Infant Academy, then pursued his undergraduate studies at the Divine Word College of Calapan.
