Lee Shi-chi
Lee Shi-chi (; 1938–2019) was a Taiwanese artist. Life Lee Shi-chi was born in Kinmen in 1938. His early years were marked by war and death, and he later described his childhood as a lottery. The Battle of Guningtou took place when he was in fourth grade, and his grandmother and elder sister were killed in 1953, during Lee's second year at . Lee Shi-chi later met Lee Chao-lan, who nurtured his interest in art, and made it possible for him to enroll at the Department of Arts within Provincial Taipei Normal College between 1955 and 1958. Lee remained in Taipei County, teaching at Hsinchuang Elementary School, as the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis had broken out in Kinmen. Kinmen
Kinmen, alternatively known as Quemoy, is a group of islands governed as a county by the Republic of China (Taiwan), off the southeastern coast of mainland China. Battle Of Guningtou
The Battle of Kuningtou or Battle of Guningtou (), also known as the Battle of Kinmen (), was a battle fought over Kinmen in the Taiwan Strait during the Chinese Civil War in 1949. The failure of the Communists to take the island left it in the hands of the Kuomintang (Nationalists) and crushed their chances of taking Taiwan to destroy the Nationalists completely in the war. Prelude Following the establishment of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949, the government of the Republic of China under Chiang Kai-shek began withdrawing its forces from mainland China to Taiwan. However, ROC garrisons remained stationed on the islands of Quemoy (Kinmen) and Matsu, located off the coast in Fujian Province.
