Lee Alexander (politician)
Lee Alexander (May 18, 1927 – December 25, 1996) was an American attorney and politician who served as the mayor of Syracuse, New York for 16 years. Career Alexander was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He served in the United States Army at the end of World War II. He then graduated from Syracuse University in 1950 and Syracuse University College of Law in 1955. Alexander practiced law in Syracuse. In 1966 he won election to the Syracuse City Council. He was elected as mayor of Syracuse in 1969, and served from 1970 to 1985. He also served as the president of the United States Conference of Mayors in 1977 and 1978, and was elected six times as the president of the National Conference of Democratic Mayors. He unsuccessfully ran for the United States Senate in 1974, coming in second place in the Democratic primary after former United States Attorney General Ramsey Clark. Lee Helen Gibson (née Alexander; born 23 September 1991) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Scottish Women's Premier League club Glasgow City and the Scotland women's national team. Early life Lee Gibson was born in Rutherglen on 27 September 1991. She grew up in the Stewartfield area of East Kilbride and was educated at Claremont High School. Playing career Club Gibson played for Glasgow City for five years, winning fourteen trophies including four consecutive domestic trebles, before signing a full-time professional contract with Swedish Damallsvenskan club Mallbackens IF in December 2015. Lieutenant-Colonel Leigh Arbuthnot Alexander (4 July 1898 – 28 April 1943) was a British Army officer and cricketer. Early life Alexander was the son of Major William Alexander and Ethel Rubina Arbuthnot and brother of Gilbert Alexander. He was born at Umzinto, Colony of Natal, South Africa. Military career Alexander joined the Gurkhas on 11 May 1917 during the First World War and first saw service on the North West Frontier. He was commissioned into the British Indian Army on the 27 October 1917. He was promoted to Captain in 1922 and to Major in 1935. In the Second World War he commanded the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Gurkha Rifles, and took part in the 1st Chindit expedition, a deep penetration raid behind Japanese lines, with the 77th Indian Infantry Brigade, when he died during the operation. Leigh Alexander (born ) is an American author and journalist. She is the former Editor-at-Large and News Editor for Gamasutra, and former editor-in-chief for the revived ''Boing Boing'' website ''Offworld''. She has writing credits on the games '' Reigns: Her Majesty'' and '' Reigns: Game of Thrones''. Career Her writing has appeared in ''Variety'', the ''Los Angeles Times'', ''Kotaku'', ''Polygon'', ''Vice'', ''Edge'', ''The Guardian'', ''The Atlantic'' and ''Time''. She also produces a video series called "Lo-Fi Let's Play", in which she plays and comments on adventure games from the 1980s.
