Conwal and Leck () is a parish located in north-east County Donegal, Province of Ulster, Ireland. It covers west Letterkenny and the surrounding hinterland. The parish has approximately 10,000 inhabitants and 1,000 families. Early records of ecclesiastical settlement at Conwal are dated in the Annals of Ulster around 914 AD. New Zealand politician John Chilton Lambton Carter was born in Conwal. Places of worship The Cathedral of St Eunan and St Columba, the only Catholic cathedral in the county, is located in the parish. Leck is a civil parish in the English county of Lancashire. The parish of Leck had a population of 189 recorded in the 2001 census. In the 2011 census Leck was grouped with Ireby (2001 pop. 78) to give a total of 260. It is located next to the Leck Beck close to the main A65, south east of the Cumbrian town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Administratively it forms part of the City of Lancaster, Lancaster itself being away. The Church of St Peter was built in 1878-79 and burnt down in 1913, but was accurately re-built in 1915. Geology Leck is located on two ancient geological fault lines: the Dent Fault and the Craven Fault. These meet at around . Bart van der Leck (26 November 1876 – 13 November 1958) was a Dutch painter, designer, and ceramicist. With Theo van Doesburg and Piet Mondrian he founded the De Stijl art movement. Biography Van der Leck was born on 26 November 1876, in Utrecht (city), Utrecht. Son of a house painter, he started his career learning how to make stained glass in a shop in Utrecht. An example of his later stained glass work is in the Kröller-Müller Museum. After having met Mondrian and van Doesburg and having founded the Stijl movement with them, his style became completely abstract, as did Mondrian's. But after disagreements with Mondrian his abstract style became based on representational images. His painting Triptych is an example, in which he transformed sketches of a mine in Spain into seemingly abstract shapes.
