Lawn Tennis is a Peruvian sports club, playing in the city of Lima, Peru. History Lawn Tennis was founded on June 27, 1884, by a group of English immigrants, and had Juan P. Gallagher Gibbs as their first chairman. Its original headquarters were in the Parque de la Exposición, but it later moved to the Jesús María district in the early 20th century. The club is the usual ground for the Peru Davis Cup team's matches. The club's main sports are Tennis, along with swimming, volleyball, badminton, squash and Paleta Frontón. Football Lawn Tennis' footballing section was active in the early days of Peruvian football, but it only entered official competitions for the first time in 1927, when it won the División Intermedia, attaining promotion to the 1928 Primera División. The team was relegated in that championship, but won the División Intermedia in the following year again; after two years in the first level, Lawn Tennis broke away from the Peruvian Football Federation. Peruvian Football League System
The Peruvian football league system is a complex system. Though the general outline includes the Liga 1, Liga 2 and Copa Perú. The Copa Perú is very large involving several stages and leagues within it. In addition, the Copa Perú is played within a year. Therefore, clubs who reach level 3 of the pyramid (National stage of the Copa Perú) will have climbed 4 levels in a one-year period. 1998 Torneo Descentralizado
The 1998 season of the Torneo Descentralizado was the 83rd season of the top category of Peruvian football (soccer). It was played by 12 teams. The national champion was Universitario. The national championship was divided into two half-year tournaments, the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura. Each was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. The winners of each would play for the national title in a playoff. If the same club had won both tournaments, it would have won the national championship automatically. Following-season Copa Libertadores berths went to the winner of each tournament, while the runners-up played for a Copa CONMEBOL spot. The bottom team on the aggregate table was relegated, while the eleventh place held a relegation/promotion playoff against the winner of the Segunda División (Second Division). Juventud La Joya
Juventud La Joya is a Peruvian football club, playing in the city of Chancay District, Huaral, Lima, Peru. History The club was founded on the Chancay District, Huaral, Lima. Juventud La Joya played in the 1983 Copa Perú, but remained in the fourth place. The club participated in the Peruvian Primera División, since 1985 Torneo Descentralizado until 1988 Torneo Descentralizado. In the 1987 Torneo Descentralizado, the club fused with the Centro Iqueño, to form the team La Joya–Iqueño. In 1989, Juventud La Joya sold the category to the Meteor, and participated until 1990 Torneo Descentralizado. In 1991 Segunda División, the club fused with the Lawn Tennis, to form the team Meteor–Lawn Tennis until 1994. In 1998 Segunda División, the club fused with the Deportivo Junín, to form the team Meteor–Junín until 1999, when was relegated to the Copa Perú. The Peruvian Football Federation ( es, Federación Peruana de Futbol or ) is the body that governs Association football in Peru. It was founded on August 23, 1922, and affiliated in 1924. A member of CONMEBOL since 1925, it directly oversees the Peru national football team, the Copa Federación, and the amateur leagues. It is indirectly involved in the organization of the Primera División (today Torneo Descentralizado), the Peruvian Primera División Femenina and Segunda División. 1928 Peruvian Primera División
The 1928 Primera División was the 13th season of top-flight Peruvian football. A total of 19 teams competed in this league, with Alianza Lima successfully defending their title. The first Superclásico was contested in this season. Changes from 1927 Structural changes The Peruvian Football Federation invited 11 teams to compete in the league and divided them into two groups.
