''Law of the Texan'' is a 1938 American Western film directed by Elmer Clifton and written by Monroe Shaff and Arthur Hoerl. The film stars Buck Jones, Dorothy Fay, Kenneth Harlan, Don Douglas, Matty Kemp and Joe Whitehead. The film was released on October 24, 1938, by Columbia Pictures. Plot Shipments are being stolen, so the Rangers send Buck and his men to protect the next shipment, when that is also stolen, Buck is kicked out of the Rangers and joins the gang responsible for the crimes. But that is just an excuse to find the leader of the gang known as El Coyote. Elmer Clifton
Elmer Clifton Forsyth (March 14, 1890 – October 15, 1949) was an American director, screenwriter, and actor from the early silent days. Early life Elmer Clifton Forsyth was born in Toronto, Canada, to Cecil Carl Forsyth and Margaret Nicolle. Career A collaborator of D.W. Griffith, Clifton appeared in ''The Birth of a Nation'' (1915) and ''Intolerance'' (1916) before giving up acting in 1917 to concentrate on work behind the camera, with Griffith and Joseph Henabery as his mentors. His first feature-length solo effort as a director was ''The Flame of Youth'' with Jack Mulhall. Clifton honed his talents during the late 1910s, directing vehicles for Mulhall and Herbert Rawlinson at Universal and then for Dorothy Gish for Famous Players–Lasky. Edwin Forrest Taylor (December 29, 1883 – February 19, 1965) was an American character actor whose artistic career spanned six different decades, from Silent film, silents through Sound film, talkies to the advent of Color motion picture film, color films. Early years Taylor was born in Bloomington, Illinois. His father managed the Dreamland Theatre in Kewanee, Illinois, and a news item in 1916 reported, "Manager Chris Taylor of Dreamland at Kewanee features his son, E. Bob Kortman
Robert F. Kortman (December 24, 1887 – March 13, 1967) was an American film actor mostly associated with westerns, though he also appeared in a number of Laurel and Hardy comedies. He appeared in more than 260 films between 1914 and 1952. 1936- appeared in Trail of the lonesome pine. Biography The son of a rancher, Kortman was born in Brackettville, Texas, in 1887. He spent six years in the U.S. cavalry. Director Tom Ince cast Kortman as a villain when he began working in films in 1911, and he went on to become the "favored on-screen opponent" for William S. Hart with regard to their film fights. After he left acting, Kortman was president of a cooperative water company in Arrowhead Springs, California, where he lived. Kortman was married to Gonda Durand, a Mack Sennett bathing beauty. He died in Long Beach, California from cancer. Arthur Hoerl
Arthur Hoerl (December 17, 1891 – February 6, 1968) was an American screenwriter and film director. Hoerl was born in New York, son of Louis Hoerl, a German immigrant silver polisher, and Teresa Hoerl. Arthur completed three years of high school, according to the 1940 US Census. He wrote for 150 films between 1921 and 1968. One of his best known credits is co-writer for the film '' Tell Your Children'' (1936) which is now known as ''Reefer Madness''. For Broadway, 1932, he wrote the play ''A Few Wild Oats.'' He also directed four films between 1932 and 1934. Hoerl died in Hollywood, California.
