Lars Larsen (timber Merchant)
Lars Larsen (17371817) was a Danish timber merchant and ship-owner. He also served as one of the directors of Kjøbenhavns Brandforsikring and the DanishNorwegian Species Bank and as one of Copenhagen's 32 Men. He owned the property Nyhavn 63 as well as the country house Søholt in Østerbro. He should not be confused with the somewhat younger ship builder Lars Larsen, namesake of the Lars Larsen House and Larsens Plads. Early life and education Lars Larsen was born at Elmelunde on the island of Møn, the son of Knud Christensen (1698–1757) and Karen Pedersdatter (1710–1750). He changed his last name after joining his maternal uncle Jens Larsen in Copenhagen. The uncle was the owner of a successful timber business. He owned the property Nyhavn 63. Lars Larsen (25 March 1758 – 18 January 1844) was a Danish merchant, ship-owner and shipbuilder. The Lars Larsen House, (''Lars Larsens Gård'') his former home in Copenhagen, was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918. He has also lent his name to Larsens Plads, a former dockyard located adjacent to Amalienborg Palace. Early life and education Larsen was born in Copenhagen, the son of silk weaver and later brewer Peder Larsen (c. 1729–1809) and Charlotte Margaretha Larsen née Holm. He apprenticed as a shipbuilder under Erik Eskildsen at Østersøisk-guineisk Handelsselskab's shipyard. Career Larsen became master shipbuilder for the consortium. He was also involved in overseas trade. In 1797, he had the third largest commercial fleet in Copenhagen, only surpassed by the Danish Asiatic Company and Duntzfeldt. Lars Kristinus Larsen (6 August 1948 – 19 August 2019) was a Danish businessman, owner and founder of the Jysk retail chain. Career Larsen was also known under the name Dyne-Larsen (Duvet-Larsen) and was the founder of the Jysk retail chain in 1979. Until 2001, the chain was named "Jysk Sengetøjslager" (Danish for "Jutlandic Bedding Store"). In 2009, when Jysk had its 30-year anniversary, Larsen self-published the book "30 år med Jysk" (eng.: "30 Years with Jysk"). He mailed a free copy to every household in Denmark, making it the #1 book in the country. ''Forbes'' named him the 424th richest man in the world (August 2019). In June 2019, it was announced that Larsen would retire, effective immediately, due to being diagnosed with severe liver cancer. Lars Larsen (born 8 December 1951) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a defender. He spent his entire career at Boldklubben Frem, making 514 appearances in which he scored 94 goals. Club career Larsen made his first-team debut for Boldklubben Frem on 20 September 1970 against Akademisk Boldklub (AB). He played almost 20 years for the club, making his last appearance on 30 October 1988 away against Helsingør IF. International career Larsen earned 22 international caps for the Denmark national football team, a tally which could have been higher if it had not been for his fear of flying. Lars Larsen (born 19 July 1978) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a left winger. Career Larsen started his career with Frederikshavn fI, but would most notably play for Randers Freja and the successor club, Randers FC, recording 73 games and 17 goals for the club. In between his stints with Randers, Larsen had a tenure with Herfølge Boldklub where he moved in January 2003 for kr. 500,000. Lars Olden Larsen (born 17 September 1998) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a winger or central midfielder for Dutch club NEC. Career Club career Growing up in Årvoll IL, he also made his senior debut on the fifth tier in 2014 before joining Vålerenga's youth setup. He did not secure a senior contract here, and instead joined second-tier KFUM.
