Lambert W Function
In mathematics, the Lambert function, also called the omega function or product logarithm, is a multivalued function, namely the Branch point, branches of the converse relation of the function , where is any complex number and is the exponential function. The function is named after Johann Heinrich Lambert, Johann Lambert, who considered a related problem in 1758. Building on Lambert's work, Leonhard Euler described the function per se in 1783. For each integer there is one branch, denoted by , which is a complex-valued function of one complex argument. is known as the principal branch. These functions have the following property: if and are any complex numbers, then : w e^ = z holds if and only if : w=W_k(z) \ \ \text k. When dealing with real numbers only, the two branches and suffice: for real numbers and the equation : y e^ = x can be solved for only if ; yields if and the two values and if . The Lambert function's branches cannot be expressed in terms o ...

Lambert (automobile)
The Lambert Automobile Company was a United States automobile manufacturing company which produced the Lambert automobile from 1905 to 1916. The company was founded by automotive pioneer John William Lambert and was based in Anderson, Indiana. In 1891, John Lambert successfully tested and drove a three-wheeled, surrey topped, gasoline powered runabout of his own design. Despite the success of the car, the vehicle was a marketing failure. Priced at $550, not a single party was interested. Undaunted, Lambert turned his attention to the manufacture of stationary gasoline engines. He selected Anderson, Indiana as the site for his Buckeye Manufacturing Company. During this time he developed the friction transmission that would be a feature on all of his cars. He made an unsuccessful attempt to buy out a model call the Buckeye in 1895. Lambert's first automobile marketing success was a model called the Union which was released in 1902. In 1906, he produced the first Lambert. With ...

Foot-lambert
A foot-lambert or footlambert (fL, sometimes fl or ft-L) is a unit of luminance in United States customary units and some other unit systems. A foot-lambert equals 1/π or 0.3183 candela per square foot, or 3.426 candela per square meter (the corresponding SI unit). The foot-lambert is named after Johann Heinrich Lambert (1728–1777), a Swiss-German mathematician, physicist and astronomer. It is rarely used by electrical and lighting engineers, who prefer the candela per square foot or candela per square meter units. The luminance of a perfect Lambertian diffuse reflecting surface in foot-lamberts is equal to the incident illuminance in foot-candles. For real diffuse reflectors, the ratio of luminance to illuminance in these units is roughly equal to the reflectance of the surface. Mathematically, :L_\mathrm v = E_\mathrm v \times R, where :L_\mathrm v is the luminance, in foot-lamberts, :E_\mathrm v is the illuminance, in foot-candles, and :R is the reflectivity, expressed as a f ...

Lambert The Sheepish Lion
''Lambert the Sheepish Lion'' is a Disney animated short film that was released in 1952. It was directed by Jack Hannah. Plot A stork (the same stork from '' Dumbo'') delivers a flock of newborn lambs to their expectant mothers, but finds that he had mistakenly brought along a lion named Lambert (apparently misinterpreting its name), which was supposed to go to South Africa; one of the mother sheep, who was heartbroken at not receiving a lamb, forcefully demands the stork leave Lambert with her. Lambert lives his life thinking he is a sheep, but is ostracized by his peers for being and acting different; he is also defenseless against the other lambs' head-butts. One night, a hungry wolf (the same wolf from the "Peter and the Wolf" segment from ''Make Mine Music''), attacks the flock. At first timid like the other sheep, Lambert's lion instincts kick in when the wolf corners Lambert's mother; with an aggressive roar, Lambert butts the wolf off a ledge. Thereafter, the now-a ...
