Laiza Massacre
On October 9, 2023, the Myanmar military launched an artillery attack targeting an internally-displaced persons (IDP) camp near Laiza, a town in northern Myanmar that serves as the capital of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). In the massacre, over 29 civilians were killed and 57 were injured. The incident occurred before the anniversary of the Myanmar Air Force's airstrike in Hpakant that killed at least 80 civilians and other KIO officials and soldiers on 23 October 2022. Prelude The Myanmar civil war broke out in 2021 following the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état, in which the Tatmadaw deposed the civilian government led by Aung San Suu Kyi. Laiza ( my, လိုင်ဇာ ''Laingza'') is a remote mountainous town in the Kachin State, Myanmar. It lies on the border with China, the other side is . 31 October 2023 Jabalia Refugee Camp Airstrike
On October 31, 2023, Israel bombed the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip – an event that was called the Jabalia camp massacre in the Muslim world. The airstrike, which came amidst the Israeli invasion of Gaza, killed more than 120 people, mostly women and children, and was widely condemned. It is also considered one of the war crimes in the Israel–Hamas war. The Jabalia refugee camp is very densely populated, and despite an evacuation order, social media videos showed that many civilians remained in the camp. In the late hours of 7 January 2022 ( Ethiopian Christmas), the Ethiopian Air Force (ETAF) carried out an airstrike on a camp for internally displaced persons (IDP) set up in Dedebit Elementary School, located in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. Between 56 and 59 people were killed in the attack, and at least 30 others were left injured. Hass Refugee Camp Bombing
The Hass refugee camp bombing was an aerial bombardment of a refugee camp in the Syrian opposition-held town of Hass in the Idlib Governorate of Syria, which has been deemed a war crime by Human Rights Watch. It was perpetrated on 16 August 2019, at 7:25 p.m. local time, during the Syrian Civil War. The bombing killed 20 civilians, including a pregnant woman, and injured another 52 people. The refugee camp was located outside the town, eight miles from the nearest front line, and there were no military targets nearby. On 11 April 2023, the Myanmar Air Force massacred at least 165 people in the village of Pazigyi, Kantbalu Township, which is located west of Mandalay, Myanmar's second largest city. Hpakant Massacre
On the night of 23 October 2022, the Myanmar Air Force launched a series of airstrikes in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, Northern Myanmar. The targeted area was within the territory of the Kachin Independence Organization's 9th Brigade Area Anangpa. The airstrikes hit an outdoor concert killing at least 80 civilians, including KIO officials and musical performers.
