Ladislau Da Guia
Ladislau da Guia (14 June 1906 – 31 October 1988) was a Brazilian professional footballer who played as a forward. Career With an unusual height for the time, da Guia became one of the first specialists in headed goals in Brazilian football. He is the greatest scorer in the history of Bangu AC, with 226 goals in 335 appearances. He was the Campeonato Carioca top goal-scorer in 1930 and again in 1934. In 1930, he refused to participate in the FIFA World Cup due to the inconvenience of the train journey that the Brazil team took to get to Uruguay. He also played for America, Flamengo, Vasco and Canto do Rio. His nickname was "Tijolo" ( brick). Personal life Ladislau da Guia is brother of the footballers Domingos, Luiz Antônio and Mamede. Bangu Atlético Clube
Bangu Atlético Clube, commonly known as Bangu, is a Brazilian professional association football club based in Rio de Janeiro, in the western neighbourhood of Bangu. The team plays in Série D, the fourth tier of the Brazilian football league system, as well as in the Campeonato Carioca, the top tier of the Rio de Janeiro state football league. The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A several times, finishing as runner-up in 1985. Their home stadium is the Estadio Moça Bonita, which has a capacity of 15,000. History The club has its origins in Fábrica Bangu (Bangu Factory), located in Bangu neighborhood, Rio de Janeiro. Mamede Da Guia
Mamede Antônio da Guia (19 May 1911 – 8 January 1948), also known by the nickname Médio, was a Brazilian professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Small in stature, especially compared to his other siblings, Mamede played for Bangu from 1928 to 1936, and then in 1943, making 228 appearances and scoring 52 goals, acting as left midfielder. He also played for Flamengo from 1936 to 1942, as a defensive midfielder, being state champion on two occasions. For the Brazil national team, Médio played only once, on 15 January 1939 in a match against Argentina. Personal life and death Mamede is brother of the footballers Domingos, Ladislau and Luiz Antônio. He received the nickname "Medium" because he was the sixth child of 11 siblings. Mamede da Guia committed suicide on 8 January 1948, by shooting himself in the chest with a revolver twice. He suffered from depression after the end of his marriage. 1935 Campeonato Carioca
In the 1935 season of the Campeonato Carioca, two championships were disputed, each by a different league. FMD Championship At the end of 1934, Vasco da Gama had a falling out with LCF, along with São Cristóvão and Bangu, and after talks with Botafogo, formed a new league; FMD (Federação Metropolitana de Desportos, or Metropolitan Sports Federation), comprising the three former LCF members and many of the members of AMEA, which ceased to exist as a result. The edition of the Campeonato Carioca organized by FMD kicked off on May 12, 1935 and ended on January 26, 1936. Nine teams participated. However, SC Brasil, under financial trouble, withdrew after losing its first five matches, and on the last rounds of the championship, Carioca, after abandoning the pitch twice, was fined two contos de réis and abandoned the league after that as well.
