La Ronde (amusement Park)
La Ronde () is an amusement park in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was originally built as the entertainment complex for Expo 67, the 1967 world's fair. Today, it is operated by Six Flags, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, under an emphyteutic lease with the City of Montreal until 2065. In-addition to being the Six Flags chain's northernmost location, La Ronde is the largest amusement park in Quebec and the second-largest in Canada (behind Canada's Wonderland, which became a sister in 2024 after Six Flags merged with Cedar Fair). La Ronde occupies of the northern tip of Saint Helen's Island, situated on a man-made extension to the landmass; the park is in the vicinity of where the smaller, adjacent ''Ronde Island'' had once been (the origin of the park's name). Parc Jean-Drapeau
Jean Drapeau Park (formerly called ''Parc des Îles'') is the third-largest park in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It comprises two islands, Saint Helen's Island and the artificial island Notre Dame Island, situated off the shore of Old Montreal in the Saint Lawrence River. The islands were the site of the Expo 67 World's Fair. Notre Dame Island was constructed for the exposition, and Saint Helen's Island artificially extended at its north and south ends. The park was renamed in honour of Jean Drapeau, the late mayor of Montreal and initiator of Expo 67. Parc Astérix () is a theme park in France based on the comic book series ''Asterix'' by Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny. In 2023, the park welcomed over 2.8 million visitors, making it the second most visited park in France behind Disneyland Paris and the eighth most visited park in Europe. It is especially renowned in France for its large variety of roller coasters, which exceeds the amount of most other parks in mainland France. Paramount Parks was a subsidiary of National Amusements-owned Viacom, headquartered at its Paramount's Carowinds amusement park in Charlotte, North Carolina. At the time of its acquisition, the company owned and operated five amusement park/ water parks, which annually attracted 13 million patrons. Viacom assumed control of the company as part of its acquisition of Paramount Pictures in 1994. On June 30, 2006, Cedar Fair acquired the company, and the deal included a ten-year license to use the Paramount Parks name and theme, and a four-year license to use Nickelodeon names and themes. Cedar Fair declined to exercise the Paramount licenses and they dropped Paramount and CBS-licensed names from the parks after the 2007 season, but opted to retain Nickelodeon names and themes until after the 2009 season when this license expired. ''Are You Afraid of the Dark?'' is a children's horror anthology television series created by D. J. MacHale and Ned Kandel. The original series aired on Nickelodeon in the United States from August 15, 1992 to February 3, 1996, and also on YTV in Canada. The pilot episode first aired on October 31, 1990 on YTV, and as a Halloween special on October 25, 1991 on Nickelodeon. It led to two revival series, with the first airing from February 6, 1999 to June 11, 2000, and the second airing from October 11, 2019 to August 13, 2022. The original series was created by D. J. MacHale and Ned Kandel, and was picked up by Nickelodeon in 1992. Expo Express
The Expo Express was a rapid transit system consisting of five stations and a route, running from Cité du Havre to La Ronde (amusement park), La Ronde in Montreal, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Built for the 1967 World's Fair (Expo 67) at a cost of around Canadian dollar, CAD$18 million, the trains carried 1,000 passengers each and ran approximately every five minutes. In 1968, the cars were sold to the Montreal#Government, City of Montreal for $1.8 million and operated by the Montreal Transit Commission (now the Société de transport de Montréal, STM). Cité Du Havre
Cité du Havre () is a neighbourhood in the borough of Ville-Marie of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located on a narrow man-made peninsula, the Mackay Pier (''Jetée Mackay''), which was largely built to protect the Old Port of Montreal from the currents of the Saint Lawrence River and from ice banks and floodings in the springtime. The 775 residents live in one of three modern residential buildings, Habitat 67, Tropiques Nord and Profil-O.
