La Laguna, Arizona
La Laguna was a gold mining town in New Mexico Territory, now Yuma County, Arizona. It was in existence for a short time from 1860 to 1862. The town was a steamboat landing 20 miles above Yuma, Arizona on the Colorado River. It had a few merchants and a ferry across the Colorado River that served placer miners in the vicinity. When the La Paz, Arizona, La Paz gold rush began, La Laguna began to decline and it was soon replaced by Castle Dome Landing, Arizona, Castle Dome Landing, 15 miles to the north, following the discovery of gold in the Castle Dome Mountains. The University of La Laguna (ULL; Spanish: ''Universidad de La Laguna'') is a public research university situated in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, on the island of Tenerife, Spain. The Sierra de la Laguna is a mountain range at the southern end of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico, and is the southernmost range of the Peninsular Ranges System. Sierra De La Laguna Dry Forests
The Sierra de la Laguna dry forests are a tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, subtropical dry forest terrestrial ecoregion, ecoregion of the southern Baja California Peninsula in Mexico. Geography The dry forests cover the lower elevations of the Sierra de la Laguna, from elevation. They are surrounded at lower elevations by the San Lucan xeric scrub, which lies between sea level and elevation. Above 800 meters elevation, the dry forests transition to the subhumid and temperate Sierra de la Laguna pine-oak forests. Climate The ecoregion has a warm and dry subtropical climate. Annual precipitation is generally less than 500 mm. The highest-rainfall months are late summer, from August to October, with peak annual precipitation in September. Rancho La Laguna
Rancho La Laguna was a Mexican land grant in present-day Riverside County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Julian Manriquez. The rancho lands are included in the present day city of Lake Elsinore and Wildomar. At the time of the US Patent, Rancho Laguna was a part of San Diego County. The County of Riverside was created by the California Legislature in 1893 by taking land from both San Bernardino and San Diego Counties. History Julian Manriquez received the land grant in 1844. His adobe ranch house lay at the north end of the west side of the lake. He sold the land to Abel Stearns in 1851. With the cession of California to the United States following the Mexican-American War, the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo provided that the land grants would be honored. Sancho de la Cerda, 1st Marquis of la Laguna, (in full, ), (c. 1550 – 14 November 1626) was a Spanish nobleman and diplomat. Sancho was the third son of Don Juan de la Cerda, 4th Duke of Medinaceli and of his wife Doña Joana Manuel de Portugal. He joined the royal household, and rose to become Spanish Ambassador to Flanders, member of the council of state and of the council of war under King Philip III and later head of the household of his wife, Queen Margaret of Austria.
