LS (other)
ls is a shell command for listing files including special files such as directories. Originally developed for Unix and later codified by POSIX and Single UNIX Specification, it is supported in many operating systems today, including Unix-like variants, Windows (via PowerShell and UnxUtils), EFI, and MSX-DOS (via MSX-DOS2 Tools). The numerical computing environments MATLAB and GNU Octave include an ls command with similar functionality. In other environments, such as DOS, OS/2, and Command Prompt, similar functionality is provided by the dir command. An ls command appeared in the first version of AT&T UNIX, the name inherited from Multics and short for "list". is part of the X/Open Portability Guide since issue 2 of 1987. Richard Matthew Stallman ( ; born March 16, 1953), also known by his initials, rms, is an American free software movement activist and programmer. He campaigns for software to be distributed in such a manner that its users have the freedom to use, study, distribute, and modify that software. Software which ensures these freedoms is termed free software. The MIT License is a permissive software license originating at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the late 1980s. UnxUtils
UnxUtils is a collection of utility programs that provide popular Unix-based shell commands ported from GNU implementations as native Windows programs that depend only on Win32 and the Microsoft C- runtime ( msvcrt.dll). The collection was last updated externally on April 15, 2003, by Karl M. Syring. , the most recent release was an open-source project at SourceForge, with the latest binary release in March, 2007 (though the files are dated 2000). The independent distribution included a main zip archive (UnxUtils.zip, 3,365,638 bytes) complemented by more recent updates (UnxUpdates.zip, 878,847 bytes, brought some binaries up to year 2003), but the SourceForge project has no UnxUpdates.zip package. PowerShell
PowerShell is a shell program developed by Microsoft for task automation and configuration management. The Unix file types are the categories of file formats that a Unix-based system uses to provide context-sensitive behavior of file system items all of which called ''files'' in Unix-based systems.
