The Leas
The Leas is a large area of land owned and maintained by the National Trust along the coastal cliffs of South Shields, England. It is popular with dog walkers, joggers, kite flyers, horse riders, cyclists and other activities. It is the finishing line for the Great North Run which is a half marathon that takes place every year in or around October and the venue for the Great North Dog Walk. The Leas stretches for around 2 miles and goes as far as Souter Lighthouse on the way to Whitburn, South Tyneside, Whitburn. Terrence Leas
Terrence Leas (born 1950) is a retired American academic. Leas most recently served as president of Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington from 2012 to 2020. Leas is an advocate of "asynchroncity", an approach to education that "dismisses the longstanding model of teachers lecturing in a fixed place and time while students listen". Education Leas received his undergraduate education from Florida State University (FSU), where he earned a bachelor's degree (B.A.) in social science education in 1972. Leas has spoken about his negative experience registering for classes on his first day at FSU, which he credits with inspiring him to reform the education system:"We got a pack of IBM cards and lined up in the gym for registration... Asturias Airport, is the only international airport of Asturias, Spain, in Castrillón. Traffic consists primarily of scheduled domestic flights and some seasonal scheduled international flights. In 2012, the airport handled 1,309,640 passengers and managed 13,252 operations. Leas Lift
The Leas Lift is a grade II* listed funicular railway that carried passengers between the seafront and the promenade in Folkestone, Kent. Originally installed in 1885, it is one of the oldest water lifts in the UK. The lift operates using water and gravity and is controlled from a small cabin at the top of the cliff. It has carried more than 36.4 million people since it opened, in a process that is especially energy efficient.
