L'Italiano
"L'Italiano" (; Italian for "The Italian") is an Italian pop song by Toto Cutugno released in 1983. It was his biggest international hit and is his best-known composition. The song was forgotten during the 1990s and was re-discovered when Toto Cutugno performed it live at a charity concert in Rome commemorating Italy's victory at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, creating a new wave of popularity for this song. Recordings This song was originally intended for Adriano Celentano, who turned it down. In 1983, Finnish singer Kari Tapio recorded a cover titled "Olen suomalainen" ("I am a Finn"), which became a hit in Finland. Also in 1983, a Dutch version titled "Als ik maar bij jou ben" ("As long as I'm with you") was a moderate hit for palingsound group Canyon from Volendam. The Gypsy Queens
The Gypsy Queens is a French pop band formed in Nice by Didier Casnati. They play a large repertoire of multi-lingual covers, with a rich vocal style likened to bands such as The Beach Boys or The Beatles. Although the band successfully released albums in 2012 and 2014 they are first and foremost a performing band, typically playing at over 200 private events a year. They were "discovered" by the likes of Sir Elton John and Nicolas Sarkozy and have been mainstays of the private party circuit of the rich and famous ever since. Caterina Murino (born 15 September 1977) is an Italian actress. She began her acting career in the 1999 production of the play ''Richard III'' and later made her breakthrough with the 2004 film ''The Corsican File''. Toto Cutugno
Salvatore "Toto" Cutugno (; born 7 July 1943) is an Italian pop singer-songwriter and musician. He is best known for his worldwide hit song, " L'Italiano", released on his 1983 album of the same title. Cutugno also won the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 held in Zagreb, Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia with the song " Insieme: 1992", for which he wrote both lyrics and music. Biography Toto Cutugno was born in Fosdinovo, Lunigiana, (Tuscany), to a Sicilian father from Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto and a homemaker mother. Hervé Vilard (born René Villard; 24 July 1946 in Paris, France) is a French pop–singer, who first became famous in the 1960s. His first single " Capri c'est fini" became an international hit in 1965 and rendered him instantaneously famous. The song sold 3.3 million copies.
