Etymology The name l'Esquirol (literally "the squirrel") comes from a former local inn Hostal de l'Esquirol which was recorded in the 17th century, but is thought to be ultimately from the old Catalan "es querol", meaning "the little rock". Tavertet
Tavertet () is a small town located above some cliffs, 900m above sea level, in the area known as , north of the Guilleries, in the ''Comarques of Catalonia, comarca'' of Osona in Catalonia. Below the cliffs is Pantà de Sau, a reservoir that dammed the waters of the river Ter in the 1960s. Tavertet is nowadays a tourist-oriented town with many holiday homes, where Raimon Panikkar lived. Tavertet is linked by road BV5207 to the town of L'Esquirol, also known as Santa Maria de Corcó. There is also a minor road north of the village above the cliffs through a beech forest linking the town to Rupit. Manlleu () is municipality in the comarca of Osona, in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, northern Spain. Manlleu is located in a large plain, La Plana de Vic, at around 460 metres above sea level on average. The highest point is Puig Agut church at around 594 m above the sea level.
