''L'Animale'' is a 2018 Austrian coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Katharina Mückstein. The film made its world premiere at the 68th Berlin Film Festival in the Panorama section on 18 February 2018. It was released in theaters in Austria by Polyfilm Verleih on 16 March 2018. The film received six nominations for the Austrian Film Award, including Best Film and Best Actress. Plot In rural Austria, 18-year-old Mati is a tomboy who struggles with gender identity and sexuality, only hangs out with boys and is a member of a motocross gang that causes trouble in the region. Mati's best friend, Sebastian, suddenly wants to be more than a friend, at the same time that Mati meets Carla, a self-confident girl who is completeley different from her. Katharina Mückstein
Katharina Mückstein (born 1982) is an Austrian film director, screenwriter and producer. Narrative films Mückstein wrote and directed include '' Talea'' (2013) and '' L'Animale'' (2018). She also wrote and produced the documentaries '' Three Farmers And A Son'' (2016), and '' Animals and Other People'' (2017). She won the Austrian Film Award for Best Documentary for ''Three Farmers And A Son'' in 2017. Early life Mückstein was born in Vienna in 1982 and grew up in Bad Vöslau. Her mother, Eva Mückstein, is a psychotherapist and politician of the Green Party of Austria. Her older brother, Wolfgang Mückstein, is a physician and politician who served as Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection in Austria from 19 April 2021 until 8 March 2022. The Diagonale (Festival of Austrian Film) is a film festival that takes place every March in Graz, Austria. The festival was initially held under the auspices of the Austrian Film Commission in Salzburg from 1993 to 1995 but moved to Graz in 1998. 68th Berlin International Film Festival
The 68th annual Berlin International Film Festival took place from 15 to 25 February 2018. German filmmaker Tom Tykwer served as Jury President. American film director Wes Anderson's animated film ''Isle of Dogs'' opened the festival, becoming first animated film to open the fest. The Romy television award in honor of the German-born and naturalized French actress Romy Schneider, born in Vienna, was created in 1990 by the Austrian newspaper ''Kurier'' – or rather their movie reviewer Rudolf John, who also designed the 30.5 cm gilded trophy. Les Arcs () is a ski resort located in Savoie, France, in the Tarentaise Valley town of Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Initially created by Robert Blanc and Roger Godino, it is a part of the huge Paradiski system which is under ownership by Compagnie des Alpes, a French-listed company owning several other ski resorts as well as theme parks. Les Arcs Film Festival is an annual European film festival held every December in Les Arcs in the French Alps. Profile Les Arcs was co-founded in 2009 by Pierre-Emmanuel Fleurantin (CEO), Guillaume Calop (general manager), and Jérémy Zelnik (head of industry), on the grounds of the ski resort of the same name. Mezipatra is a Czech queer film festival screening films with gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender themes. The name Mezipatra translates as "mezzanine" and refers to the festival's mission: creating space for meeting of people regardless of their gender or sexual identities.
