Kõue Manor
Kõue Manor (also Triigi Manor; ; ) is a Manorialism, manor in Triigi, Harju County, Triigi, Kose Parish, Harju County, in northern Estonia. History First mentioned in the Liber Census Daniae in 1241, the manor's thick and irregular walls suggest that the building was originally a medieval vassal stronghold. The first known owner of the manor was a vassal of the Danish King Gerhardus de Kouwe (Gerhard from Kau) who served as the mayor of ''Kau'' in 1319. However, the fate of this family remains unknown as historical records indicate that Gerhardus might have participated in the failed 1343 uprising of St. George’s Night and lost the ownership of Manor during the suppression of the Estonians in the aftermath. However, Kau has been home to warriors, artists, explorers and statesmen ever since. A renowned warlord Heinrich Dücker owned Kau during the Livonian War in the 1560s. Manorialism, also known as seigneurialism, the manor system or manorial system, was the method of land ownership (or "Land tenure, tenure") in parts of Europe, notably France and later England, during the Middle Ages. Its defining features included a large, sometimes fortified manor house in which the lord of the manor and his dependants lived and administered a rural estate, and a population of labourers or Serfdom, serfs who worked the surrounding land to support themselves and the lord. Kose Parish () is a rural municipality in northern Estonia. It is a part of Harju County. The municipality has a population of 5,737 (as of 1 January 2004) and covers an area of . The population density is 24.2 inhabitants per km2. In October 2013, neighbouring Kõue Parish was merged with Kose Parish. Harju County ( or ''Harjumaa''), is one of the fifteen counties of Estonia. Otto von Kotzebue (; 30 December 1787 – 15 February 1846) was a Baltic German naval officer in the Imperial Russian Navy. He commanded two naval expeditions into the Pacific for the purposes of exploration and scientific investigation.
