Kurds In Armenia
The Kurds in Armenia (; ), also referred to as the Kurds of Rewan (), form a major part of the historically significant Kurdish population in the Post-Soviet states, post-Soviet space, and live mainly in the western parts of Armenia. Kurds and Yazidis are counted as separate ethnic groups in Armenia (on the relationship between Yazidis and Kurdish identity, see ''Yazidis#Identity, Identity of Yazidis''). The latest census conducted in Armenia (2022) recorded 31,079 Yazidi and 1,663 Kurdish inhabitants of Armenia based on the self-identification of the respondents. Practically all of those who identified themselves as Kurds in the census are members of the Yazidi community who embrace a Kurdish identity; extremely few Muslim Kurds live in Armenia today. Kurdish Languages
Kurdish (, , ) is a Northwestern Iranian language or group of languages spoken by Kurds in the region of Kurdistan, namely in southeast Turkey, northern Iraq, northwest Iran, and northern Syria. It is also spoken in northeast Iran, as well as in certain areas of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Kurdish varieties constitute a dialect continuum, with some mutually unintelligible varieties, and collectively have 26 million native speakers. The main varieties of Kurdish are Kurmanji, Sorani, and Southern Kurdish (). The majority of the Kurds speak Kurmanji, and most Kurdish texts are written in Kurmanji and Sorani. Kurmanji is written in the Hawar alphabet, a derivation of the Latin script, and Sorani is written in the Sorani alphabet, a derivation of the Arabic script. Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic
The Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic (ArSSR), also known as Soviet Armenia, or simply Armenia, was one of the Republics of the Soviet Union, constituent republics of the Soviet Union, located in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic

Arab Shamilov
Arab Shamilov (, also known as ; 23 January 1897 – 1978) was a Kurdish novelist and scholar who lived in the Soviet Union. Early career Arab Shamilov was born on 23 January 1897 in the village of Susuz in the Kars oblast, now located in eastern Turkey but then part of the Russian Empire. During World War I, from 1914 to 1917, he served as an interpreter for the Russian army. Later on, he became a member of the central committee of the Armenian Communist Party. In 1931, he began working on Kurdish literature at the Leningrad Institute of Oriental Studies. He assisted in developing a Latin-based alphabet for the Kurdish language in 1927.
