Kultainen Kypärä
Kultainen kypärä () is an ice hockey award given by the Suomen jääkiekkoilijat ry (SJRY; ) to the best player in the Finnish Liiga and Auroraliiga. Winners are selected via votes cast by each league's players. Kultainen kypärä has been awarded in the Liiga since 1987, and in the Auroraliiga since 2022. In addition, a long running tradition by Veikkaus is for the current best scorer of a Liiga team to carry a golden helmet, also called kultainen kypärä or kultakypärä. The player that plays the most games carrying the golden helmet that also is in the top 20 of the league's scoreboard by the end of the regular season is awarded with €10,000 by Veikkaus. Mikko Mäkelä (ice Hockey)
Mikko Matti Mäkelä (born February 28, 1965) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey left wing. Known as the "Flying Finn", he was drafted in the fourth round, 65th overall, by the New York Islanders in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. Mäkelä made his NHL debut with the Islanders in the 1985–86 season. In four-plus seasons with the Islanders, Mäkelä scored 95 goals, including 37 in the 1987–88 season. The Islanders traded Mäkelä to the Los Angeles Kings during the 1989–90 season in exchange for Hubie McDonough and Ken Baumgartner. After finishing the 1989–90 season with Los Angeles, Mäkelä was traded again before the 1990–91 season. This time, he went to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Mike Donnelly. After one season in Buffalo, Mäkelä returned to Europe, spending two-plus seasons playing in his native Finland and one in Sweden. Tim Thomas (ice Hockey, Born 1974)
Timothy James Thomas Jr. (born April 15, 1974) is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender who mainly played in the National Hockey League (NHL), most notably with the Boston Bruins. He was born in Flint, Michigan and is a graduate of Davison, Michigan, Davison High School. Thomas played college hockey for the University of Vermont for four years, from 1993–1997, during which he was drafted 217th overall by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He played for several years in the minor leagues and Europe, before making it to the NHL at age 28, with the Boston Bruins. He finally emerged as the Bruins' starting goaltender at age 32. Thomas is a two-time winner of the Vezina Trophy (2008–09 NHL season, 2009 and 2010–11 NHL season, 2011) as the NHL's best goaltender, and was a member of Team USA in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Timo Pärssinen
Timo Pärssinen (born January 19, 1977, in Lohja, Finland) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey forward. Playing career Timo Pärssinen began his pro career with TuTo Turku in 1994 and then moved to Kokkolan Hermes in 1997. He would move to HPK the next season and spent the next three seasons with the team. He was drafted by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim as their fourth-round pick, #102 overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He spent one season is North America, splitting his time with Anaheim and their AHL affiliate the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, playing 13 regular season games in the National Hockey League, scoring three assists and collecting 2 penalty minutes. Antti Markus Miettinen (born July 3, 1980) is a Finnish people, Finnish ice hockey coach and former professional forward (ice hockey), forward, who last played professionally with HPK of the Liiga. He had previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and Winnipeg Jets. Playing career Miettinen was drafted by the Dallas Stars as their seventh-round pick, 224th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to playing in the NHL, he played for five years in the SM-Liiga with HPK Hämeenlinna picking up the Kultainen kypärä and the Lasse Oksanen trophy in his final year in Finland. Tappara
Tappara (; Finnish language, Finnish for "Battle axe") is a Finnish professional ice hockey team playing in the SM-liiga. They play at ''Nokia Arena (Tampere), Nokia Arena'' in Tampere, Finland. The team has won 20 Finnish league championships, which makes them the most successful club in Finland. The team continued the traditions of the Tammerfors Bollklub. Janne Juhani Ojanen (born 9 April 1968) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey player. He is the all-time leading scorer in Finland's SM-liiga with 799 points, spending the majority of his playing career with Tappara. Playing career Early Career in Finland Ojanen started his playing career playing for his hometown team Tappara. Ojanen played 3 SM-liiga games on his first season. Kai Ilmari Nurminen (born 29 March 1969) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey forward, who last played with Herlev Hornets in the Danish Oddset Ligaen. Career Nurminen started and played most of his ice hockey career with TPS in SM-liiga. He has also played for two seasons in the Swedish Elitserien. During the 1994–1995 season, he played successfully with Esa Keskinen for HV71, together making up a fearsome duo. For the 1996–97 season, he was contracted by Los Angeles Kings in NHL. After only one season in NHL with 67 matches played (scoring 16 goals and 11 assists) he returned to Scandinavia. HIFK (a traditional abbreviation of the Swedish name Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna, Helsingfors, English: "Sporting Society Comrades, Helsinki") is a professional ice hockey team based in Helsinki, Finland that plays in the SM-liiga, the sport's top-level league in Finland. Brian Christopher Rafalski (born September 28, 1973) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings, in the SM-liiga for HPK and HIFK, in the Elitserien for Brynäs IF, and in the ECHL for the Florida Everblades. Raimo Ilmari Helminen (born 11 March 1964 in Tampere, Finland) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey player. He is often called "Raipe" or "Maestro" by his fans. He is the world record holder for most international games played by a hockey player, as well as for tied for being the hockey player in the most Olympic Games, and his 26 seasons as a professional is one of the longest careers in professional hockey history.
