Kristallen Den Fina
"Kristallen den fina" () is a traditional Swedish folk song. According to some sources, it originated in the village of Skattungbyn in the province of Dalarna.See, e.g.: In 1843, Richard Dybeck published in his version of the song recorded in Skattungbyn. Many arrangements of the song have been written for various choral groups. One of its early arrangements for men's voices was composed by Otto Frederik Tullberg in 1840. The language of "Kristallen den fina" relies on a poetic structure, using the older, traditional language rather than contemporary Swedish. Thematically, the song reflects a sense of longing and romance between a couple. The song is featured in the 1972 film '' Jag Heter Stelios'' (''My Name is Stelios''), in the scene where the main characters, Stelios and Kostas, walk through Stockholm, whereupon Kostas begins singing it. Dalarna (; ), also referred to by the English exonyms Dalecarlia and the Dales, is a (historical province) in central Sweden. Richard Dybeck
Richard Dybeck (1 September 1811 – 28 July 1877) was a Swedish jurist, antiquarian, and lyricist. He is mainly remembered as the author of the lyrics to what is now the de facto Swedish national anthem, ''Du gamla, Du fria''. Biography Dybeck was born in the rectory of Odensvi parish, just outside the town of Köping in Västmanland, Sweden. He was the son of a clergyman, went to gymnasium in Västerås, and later matriculated at Uppsala University in 1831 with a law degree. He completed his civil service degree in law () in 1834 and entered the Svea Court of Appeal (). He held a number of positions in the court system during the following years, but eventually began to spend all his time on his antiquarian and historical research, not least in the field of runestones. Dybeck wrote many poems. Jacob Niclas Ahlström
Jacob Niclas Ahlström (5 June 1805 in Visby, Gotland – 14 May 1857 in Stockholm) was a Swedish Kapellmeister and composer. Beginning his studies at Uppsala University in 1824, Ahlström dropped out due to lack of money and joined a touring theatrical troupe. From 1832 to 1842, he served as a cathedral organist and music teacher in Västerås and then became a Court Kapellmeister and organist in Stockholm until his death. In 1845, he held a concert in Berlin, during which he played Swedish folk songs and dances. During the years 1842 to 1854 Ahlström worked at the Nya theater in Stockholm where he wrote music in various genres for more than one hundred theatrical works. Erland Von Koch
Sigurd Christian Jag Erland Vogt von Koch (26 April 1910 – 31 January 2009) was a Swedish composer. He wrote symphonies, ballets, an opera, and other compositions, including music for film. Life and career Born in Stockholm as the son of composer Sigurd von Koch (1879–1919), Erland von Koch studied at the Stockholm Conservatory from 1931 to 1935 and subsequently passed the advanced choirmaster and organist examinations. Between 1936 and 1938, he lived in Germany and France in order to pursue studies in composition with Paul Höffer, conducting with Clemens Krauss, and piano with Claudio Arrau. Later, he took private classes with Tor Mann in Sweden. Teaching at the Karl Wohlfarts Musikschule from 1939 to 1945, von Koch also spent the final two years of this period working as a sound expert and choirmaster for radio broadcasting. Nils Lindberg
Nils Lindberg (11 June 1933 – 20 February 2022) was a Swedish composer and pianist. Biography Lindberg was born in Uppsala on 11 June 1933. He was known both as a jazz composer and musician, but was also active in other styles. Several of his works are written in a style combining elements of jazz, Swedish folk music and classical music. He studied musicology at Uppsala University from 1952 to 1956 and then composition at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm, from 1956 to 1960. "While still a student he began playing professionally with" Benny Bailey (1957–8), Anders Burman (1958), Ove Lind (1959), Lars Gullin, and Putte Wickman. He played with a touring Duke Ellington in 1973 and recorded with vocalist Karin Krog in 1976. Lindberg died on 20 February 2022, at the age of 88. Falconer (band)
Falconer was a Swedish power metal band from Mjölby, formed in 1999 by the former guitarist of Mithotyn, Stefan Weinerhall. Falconer carried on many of the traditions set by Weinerhall's previous band and played a fusion style of power metal that utilizes folk instrumentation and melody to create a more medieval sound. Biography Origins In 1992, the blackened death metal act Cerberus was founded by Stefan Weinerhall, Christian "Christer" Schütz and Johan, who left shortly afterward. After one year, they renamed themselves Mithotyn. As Mithotyn, they did not release an album until 1997.
