Korea Food And Drug Administration
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS; ), formerly known as the Korea Food & Drug Administration (KFDA; ), is a government agency responsible for promoting public health by ensuring the safety and effectiveness of foods, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics as well as supporting the food and pharmaceutical industry in South Korea. The main goal is to offer people safe foods and drugs. The headquarters are located in the Osong Health Technology Administration Complex in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. Yonhap News Agency (; ) is a major news agency in South Korea. It is based in Seoul, South Korea. Yonhap provides news articles, pictures, and other information to newspapers, TV networks and other media in South Korea. History Yonhap was established on 19 December 1980, through the merger of Hapdong News Agency and Orient Press. Drug Policy Of South Korea
The drug policy of South Korea is one of the strictest in the world. Under South Korean law, its citizens are prohibited from using drugs, even if they are abroad in a country where the use of drugs is legal. South Koreans are also additionally forbidden to use cannabis, even if they are in countries where cannabis use is legalised or tolerated. Cultivating, transporting or possessing cannabis is also illegal under South Korean criminal law, both domestic and abroad. The South Korean government regularly reminds its citizens of this prohibition. For example, the South Korean Embassy in Canada wrote (after cannabis use was legalized there in October 2018) that "it is illegal for South Koreans to use cannabis, even if they are in a region where cannabis is legal". The Pharmaceutical Affairs Law of South Korea is a law regulating the manufacturing, importation, and sale of drugs and medical devices. Kim Ganglip
Kim Gang-lip (; born 9 November 1965) is a South Korean government official served as Minister of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) from 2020 to 2022 and Vice Minister of Health and Welfare (MOHW) from 2019 to 2020 under President Moon Jae-in. After passing the state exam in 1990, Kim has dedicated his career in public service - mostly at MOHW. At MOHW, Kim led departments responsible for various policy areas spanning from public health to pension system. He also served as a counsellor at Permanent Mission of Korea in Geneva where WHO resides. Upon beginning of President Moon's presidency in 2017, Kim was promoted to lead MOHW's Planning and Coordination Office, the most senior office in any ministries. Park Jong-sei
Park Jong-sei (born 1943), also spelled Park Jong-se, is a South Korean chemistry researcher and former government official. He rose to worldwide notice during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul for his role in detecting Ben Johnson's steroid use. Cheongju
Cheongju (; ) is the capital and largest list of cities in South Korea, city of North Chungcheong Province in South Korea. The 'Cheong' in the name of Chungcheong Province is the Cheong of Cheongju. History Cheongju has been an important provincial town since ancient times.
