Koko (gorilla)
Hanabiko, nicknamed "Koko" (July 4, 1971 – June 19, 2018) was a female western lowland gorilla born in the San Francisco Zoo and cross-fostered by Francine Patterson for use in ape language experiments. Koko gained public attention as the subject of two National Geographic cover stories and, in 1985, the best-selling children's picture book, ''Koko's Kitten''. Koko became the world's most famous representative of her critically endangered species. Koko's communication skills were hotly debated. Koko used many signs adapted from American Sign Language, but the scientific consensus to date remains that she did not demonstrate the syntax or grammar required of true language. Patterson has been widely criticized for misrepresenting Koko's skills, providing insufficient care for Koko and her companion gorillas, and inappropriate treatment of Gorilla Foundation staff members. Koko Jones
Kevin Jones is an American jazz percussionist and band leader. Jones's music is influenced by that of Cuba and Congo. Career Jones grew up in Englewood, New Jersey. He is the brother of the musician Patrick Stanfield Jones. As a teenager he studied under percussionists Babatunde Lea, Marvin "Bugalu" Smith, Congolese drummers Titos Sompa and Coster Massamba, Charli Persip and Max Roach. Jones began playing percussion professionally at the age of 13 with a group called Spoonbread, who were signed to All Platinum Records of Englewood, NJ. In 1978, aged 18, he played in a sextet led by Charles McPherson on the album ''Free Bop!'' He studied music at the University of Massachusetts and Jazzmobile simultaneously until 1979, when his Professor, saxophonist Archie Shepp, took him on tour to Europe, where he recorded his second album. Lolani Koko (2 October 1963 – 18 June 2024) was a Samoan rugby union and rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played representative rugby union for Samoa national rugby union team, Samoa and representative rugby league for Samoa national rugby league team, Western Samoa, including at the 1995 Rugby League World Cup. Demeter Koko (13 June 1891, in Linz – 27 October 1929, in Linz) was an Austrian graphic artist active in the early 20th century. Education After completing his studies at the Linz Handelsakademie (vocational school), the 17-year-old Koko began to study painting in Linz. In Munich he perfected his style between the years 1910 and 1915 and finally returned to Linz in 1916. However his stay here was cut short as he was soon called up for military service as the First World War was raging. Life and work He had his first exhibition in 1919, after the war had ended. This was a joint exhibition with his sister Sophie Koko. In 1921 he became a member of the Upper Austrian Artists' Society. In 1923 he developed lung disease and died of this condition in 1929. Koko Sakibo (born 10 December 1987) is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a striker.
