Kniven is a mountain in Lom Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The tall mountain is located in the Jotunheimen mountains within Jotunheimen National Park. The mountain sits about southwest of the village of Fossbergom and about northeast of the village of Øvre Årdal. The mountain lies in the Smørstabbtindene mountains and it is surrounded by several other notable mountains including Rundhøe to the east; Stetinden and Stehøi to the southeast; Sokse, Veslebjørn, Storebjørn to the south; Kalven to the southwest; and Store Smørstabbtinden to the north. Innlandet
Innlandet is a Counties of Norway, county in Norway. It was created on 1 January 2020 with the merger of the old counties of Oppland and Hedmark (Jevnaker Municipality and Lunner Municipality were transferred to the neighboring county of Viken (Norwegian county), Viken on the same date). The new county has an area of , making it the largest county in Norway after the division of the old Troms og Finnmark county in 2024. The region was known as Opplandene or Opplanda since the middle ages. Historically part of Akershus, Oplandene County existed from 1757 to 1781, when it was divided into Christians County and Hedemarken County, also known as Western and Eastern Oplandene. There are also several peaks in Dovrefjell, Rondane, Dovre, Lesja, and Folldal that also reach above 2000 meters. Smørstabbtindene is a mountain group in Lom Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The highest mountain in the group is tall. The group of mountains is located in the larger Jotunheimen mountain range and inside Jotunheimen National Park. Øvre Årdal
Øvre Årdal is a village in Årdal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is the larger of the two primary villages in Årdal. The village is situated at the northern end of the long lake Årdalsvatnet, with the village of Årdalstangen at the southern end. The village has a population (2019) of 3,117 and a population density of . Farnes Church is located in this village. The road ''Tindevegen'' goes from Øvre Årdal, through the Fardalen valley to the village of Turtagrø in Luster Municipality. It's one of the highest elevation roads in Norway.
