Kniksen Award
The Kniksen Award (), established in 1990, honors the best players in the Norwegian football premiership. The award is named after the legendary Norwegian football player Roald Jensen, nicknamed "Kniksen". Categories Category A A jury composed of players, leaders, coaches and officials in the Tippeligaen, nominates and choose the winners in each category. All the nominees must play in the Norwegian top division. The player's nationality does not matter. The categories are: * Goalkeeper of the Year * Defender of the Year * Midfielder of the Year * Striker of the Year * Coach of the Year * Referee of the Year In 2006, two further categories were also awarded: Young player of the year, and 1. divisjon player of the year. Fyllingen Fotball
Fyllingen Fotball is a Norwegian association football club from Fyllingsdalen, Bergen, Hordaland. It was founded as a formally independent section of the alliance sports club Fyllingen IL on 1 January 1994. Fyllingen IL was founded on 6 June 1946. Fyllingen Fotball still uses Fyllingen IL's logo. The club played in the Norwegian top flight in 1990, 1991 and 1993, and reached the Norwegian Cup final in 1990, where they lost 5–1 against Rosenborg. This earned them a place in the 1991–92 European Cup Winners' Cup, where they were eliminated by Atlético Madrid in the first round. Fyllingen played in the 1. divisjon from 1994 to 1996 and in the 2. divisjon from 1997 till 2009. The last two seasons of its existence, the club played in the 3. divisjon. Øyvind Leonhardsen
Øyvind Leonhardsen (born 17 August 1970) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He retired after the 2007 season, ending a career with nine years in English football at clubs Wimbledon, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa, and in Norway he played for Molde, Rosenborg, Lyn, and Strømsgodset. Between 1990 and 2003 he made 86 appearances for the Norway national team scoring 19 goals. Idrettsklubben Start (or simply IK Start) is a Norwegian Association football, football club from the city of Kristiansand that currently plays in the Norwegian First Division, the second tier of the Norwegian football league system. Pål Lydersen
Pål Lydersen (born 10 September 1965) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a left-back. Background Lydersen played for IK Start, until he was signed by English club Arsenal in November 1991 for a £500.000 fee. He spent the first three months in the reserves, and made his league debut as a substitute in a 3-1 win over Wimbledon 28 March 1992 at Selhurst Park. Then he showed his versatility by appearing at left-back, right-back, in the centre of midfield, and as a sweeper, though he's made most of his first team appearances at right-back. However, he was unable to oust first-team regulars Lee Dixon and Nigel Winterburn, and played only 16 games in all competitions during his time at the club. Frode Grodås (born 24 October 1964) is a Norwegian association football, football coach and former Norway national football team, national team Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. Erik Thorstvedt
Erik Thorstvedt (born 28 October 1962) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He won 97 caps for the Norway national team, and was the starter in goal at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He played for Viking, Eik-Tønsberg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, IFK Göteborg and Tottenham Hotspur. Career Thorstvedt was the first Norwegian to win the FA Cup when he won it with Spurs in 1991 and later became the second Norwegian to play in the Premier League. Rune Pedersen (referee)
Rune Pedersen (born 19 May 1963) is a former football referee, representing SK Sprint-Jeløy. He was regarded as the best match official in Norway during the 1990s, and won the Kniksen award for "Referee of the year" 10 times between 1990 and 2000. In 1993 Roy Helge Olsen prevented Pedersen from 10 consecutive wins. In 1998, Pedersen became the first Norwegian referee to appear in the main tournament of the FIFA World Cup. He refereed the group stage match between Argentina and Jamaica, and the quarter-final between Croatia and Germany where he gave Christian Wörns a straight red card for a foul near the end of the first half. In the first leg of the 2000–01 UEFA Cup semi-finals between Alavés and Kaiserslautern, Pedersen awarded four penalties (three for Alavés and one for Kaiserslautern) as Alavés won 5–1.
