Kite (film Series)
''Kite'' is a series of films created by Yasuomi Umetsu. It was started in 1998 with the release of ''Kite (1998 film), Kite''. It was followed by a 2008 sequel ''Kite Liberator''. The first film of the series was adapted into a live-action film Kite (2014 film), of the same name and was released in 2014. The music video ''Ex-Girlfriend (song), Ex-Girlfriend'' was adapted from several scenes of the first film. The latest installment ''Kite Armageddon'' is not yet produced. The North American version is currently being distributed by Media Blasters for home video releases. The film series includes characters depicting ephebophilic scenes, which was only found in the first film. Yasuomi Umetsu
is a Japanese animator, director, writer, and storyboard artist. Career Umetsu studied at the and was originally not interested in pursuing a career in the anime industry, and instead wanted to pursue a career as a manga artist. While in his 20s, he drew a short manga for Kodansha and decided to give up on pursuing manga due to feeling that it wasn't for him. After graduating from vocational school, he had trouble finding a job, and was introduced to Tsuchida Production through the head of the department at his school, but he felt that the company's style didn't suit him and did work for other companies in the industry eventually resulting in his firing after 1-2 months. ''Kite'', also known as in Japan, is a Japanese original video animation written and directed by Yasuomi Umetsu. Two 35-minute episodes were released on VHS on February 25 and October 25, 1998, respectively. However, subsequent releases, including all three DVD releases in the United States, have edited the OVA into a film. Plot Young schoolgirl Sawa is orphaned in her early teens following the gruesome murder of her parents. She goes on a date with a celebrity, during which he angrily confronts an elderly woman who had admonished him for dating such a young girl. Kite Liberator
is a 2008 Japanese direct-to-video adult animated action science fiction film and the second installment of the film series. It was directed and written by Yasuomi Umetsu, who previously directed the first film in the series. The film was released on 21 March 2008 on DVD and on 25 November 2014 on Blu-ray. Unlike the first installment of the film series, ''Kite Liberator'' does not include an extended cut, and therefore, it is the first film in the franchise not to include sexual scenes.
