Kirby (character)
is the titular character and protagonist of the ''Kirby'' series of video games developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo. He first appeared in '' Kirby's Dream Land'' (1992), a platform game for the Game Boy. Since then, Kirby has appeared in over 50 games, ranging from action platformers to puzzle, racing, and pinball, and has been featured as a playable character in every installment of the '' Super Smash Bros.'' series (1999–present). He has also starred in his own anime and manga series. Since 1999, he has been voiced by Makiko Ohmoto. Kirby's signature skill is his ability to inhale objects or creatures and spit them out as projectiles, as well as the ability to suck in air to float over obstacles. ''Kirby Super Star Ultra'' is a 2008 anthology Action game, action-Platformer, platform game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. The game is an Video game remake, enhanced remake of ''Kirby Super Star'', originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996, to commemorate the ''Kirby (series), Kirby'' series' 15th anniversary. The remake retains all game modes found in the original and adds four major new ones, along with adding updated visuals and full-motion video cutscenes. The game was released in North America on September 22, 2008, in Japan on November 6, 2008, and in Europe on September 18, 2009. Satoru Iwata (; December6, 1959July11, 2015) was a Japanese businessman, video game programmer and producer. Beginning in 2002, he was the fourth president of Nintendo, as well as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Nintendo of America from 2013 until his death in 2015. Iwata was a major contributor in broadening the appeal of video games by focusing on novel and entertaining games rather than top-of-the-line hardware. John Joseph Kirby Jr. (October 22, 1939 – October 2, 2019) was an American attorney. He was most notable for his successful defense for Nintendo against Universal Studios over the copyrightability of the character Donkey Kong in 1984, from which Nintendo subsequently named the character Kirby to honor him.
