Kurt Neumann (director)
Kurt Neumann (5 April 1908 – 21 August 1958) was a German Hollywood film director who specialized in science fiction movies in his later career. Biography Born in Nuremberg, the son of a manufacturer of tin stamps studied music in several German cities, including Berlin. In 1926 he directed his first short movie. Neumann came to the U.S. in the early talkie era, hired to direct German language versions of Hollywood films. Once he mastered English and established himself as technically proficient in filmmaking, Neumann directed such low-budget programmers as ''The Big Cage'' (1932), ''Secret of the Blue Room'' (1933) with Paul Lukas and Gloria Stuart, ''Hold 'Em Navy'' (1936), '' It Happened in New Orleans'' (1936) with child star Bobby Breen, ''Wide Open Faces'' (1937) with Joe E. Max Everitt Rosenbloom (November 6, 1906 – March 6, 1976) was an American professional boxer, actor, and television personality. Nicknamed "Slapsie Maxie", he was inducted into '' The Ring's'' Boxing Hall of Fame in 1972, the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1984, the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1985, and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1993. He was sometimes billed as Slapsie Maxie Rosenbloom for film appearances. Wade Boteler (October 3, 1888 – May 7, 1943) was an American film actor and writer. He appeared in more than 430 films between 1919 and 1943. Biography He was born in Santa Ana, California, and died in Hollywood, California, from a heart attack. Boteler graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After he graduated, he stayed there as a director until he joined the Army in World War I. For three years in the mid-1920s, he worked for Douglas MacLean's film company as both actor and writer. Dorothy Karolyn Granger (November 21, 1911 – January 4, 1995) was an American actress best known for her roles in short subject comedies in Hollywood. Career Granger, with her parents, two brothers, Richard and James, and their grandmother, Clara ( Wilcox) Granger, moved to Los Angeles during the late 1920s. Granger got her start in the entertainment industry when she won a beauty contest at the age of 13 at Silver Beach Summer Resort near Houston. Her budding figure and confident stage presence were perfect for studios that made comedy shorts. Clarence Hummel Wilson (November 17, 1876 – October 5, 1941) was an American character actor. Career Wilson appeared in nearly 200 movies between 1920 and 1941, mostly in supporting roles as an old miser or grouch. He had supporting roles in films like '' The Front Page'' (1931; as Sheriff Pinky), '' Ruggles of Red Gap'' (1935) and '' You Can't Take It With You'' (1938).
