King Midas In Reverse
"King Midas in Reverse" is a song by English pop group the Hollies, written by Graham Nash but credited to Allan Clarke, Nash and Tony Hicks. It was released as a single in September 1967 in anticipation of the band's album ''Butterfly''. Musical style The track was a departure in style and influenced by Graham Nash's visits to America. Nash wanted to take the band in a new direction which was resisted by other members of the band, and this led to his departure and move to the United States. It was released in the UK on the Parlophone label (R5637) and in the US on the Epic label (10234). While a critical success, the song was a commercial failure by the Hollies' standards, prompting them to write and record the more commercial song " Jennifer Eccles" for their next single. Reception ''Cash Box'' said that it's "a crashing folk-drenched rock side with heavy push in the rhythm section and some fine group vocal work" that also has "stunning production." The Hollies are an English rock and pop band formed in Manchester in 1962. One of the leading British groups of the 1960s and into the mid-1970s, they are known for their distinctive three-part vocal harmony style. Singer Allan Clarke and rhythm guitarist/singer Graham Nash founded the band as a Merseybeat-type group in Manchester, although some of the band members came from towns further north, in east Lancashire. Nash left the group in 1968 to co-form Crosby, Stills & Nash, though he has reunited with the Hollies on occasion. As well as Clarke and Nash other members have included lead guitarist Tony Hicks, rhythm guitarist Terry Sylvester (who replaced Nash), bassists Eric Haydock and Bernie Calvert, and drummers Don Rathbone and Bobby Elliott. The Hollies enjoyed considerable popularity in the UK and Europe during the mid-1960s with a string of hits that included " Just One Look", " Here I Go Again" (both 1964), " I'm Alive" (1965; their first of two UK number on ... The Hollies Songs
''The'' is a grammatical article in English, denoting nouns that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. 4 Way Street
''4 Way Street'' is a live album by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, released in 1971 by Atlantic Records. It was the second album as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, after ''Déjà Vu'' in 1970. An earlier version of the band, with just Crosby, Stills, and Nash, had released the self-titled ''Crosby, Stills & Nash'' in 1969. The live recordings were taken from shows on the band's 1970 tour, with performances at the Fillmore East (New York City) on June 2 through June 7, 1970; The Forum (Los Angeles, California) on June 26 through June 28, 1970; and the Auditorium Theatre (Chicago, Illinois) on July 5, 1970. Tensions between the band members were high during the tour, with their dressing-room fights becoming the stuff of rock legend, being referenced by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention on their 1971 LP '' Fillmore East - June 1971''. The tensions led to CSNY temporarily dissolving shortly after the recording of ''4 Way Street''. The album reached No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' 2 ...
