Killing Of Journalists In The Gaza War
The killing of journalists in the Gaza war, overwhelmingly Palestinian, along with other acts of violence against journalists, marks the deadliest period for journalists in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict since 1992 and the deadliest conflict for journalists in the 21st century. ''Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk'' is a 2025 documentary film directed by Sepideh Farsi, depicting life in Gaza during the ongoing Israeli military campaign, captured through Farsi's video calls with a young woman living there. A co-production between France, Palestine and Iran, the documentary had its world premiere at the ACID parallel section of the 78th Cannes Film Festival on 15 May 2025. Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassouna, interviewed by Farsi for the film, was killed in an Israeli airstrike alongside nine members of her family on 16 April 2025, the day after the film was selected for the ACID section. The festival released an official statement expressing condolences and criticizing the ongoing violence in Gaza. Since the outbreak of the Gaza war on 7 October 2023, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has conducted numerous airstrikes on more than 200 educational facilities, including universities, in the Gaza Strip. Khan Yunis
Khan Yunis (), also spelled Khan Younis or Khan Yunus, is a city in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestine, and serves as the capital of the Khan Yunis Governorate. It has been largely destroyed during the Gaza war. Before the 14th century, Khan Yunis was a village known as "Salqah". Nuseirat Refugee Camp
Nuseirat Camp () is a Palestinian refugee camp located in the middle of the Gaza Strip, five kilometers north-east of Deir al-Balah. The refugee camp is in the Deir al-Balah Governorate, Gaza Strip. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the refugee camp had a population of 31,747 and the surrounding Nuseirat municipality had a population of 54,851 in 2017. The camp was established after the 1948 Palestinian expulsion during the 1948 Palestine war. Wael Dahdouh
Wael Hamdan Ibrahim Al-Dahdouh (; born 30 April 1970) is a Palestinian journalist and the bureau chief of Al Jazeera in Gaza City. His career, beginning in 1998, also spanned working for Al-Quds newspaper, acting as a correspondent for Voice of Palestine, in the Second Intifada against the Israeli occupation, and as a correspondent for Al Arabiya, with his role with Al-Jazeera starting in 2004. He received the Peace Through Media Award in 2013. Numerous members of Al-Dahdouh's family have been killed by the Israeli military during the Gaza war. The Israeli Air Force has been conducting an aerial bombardment campaign on the Gaza Strip during the Gaza war.
