Kenyatta Family
The Kenyatta family is the family of Jomo Kenyatta, the first President of Kenya and a prominent leader in the country's independence. Born into the dominant Kikuyu culture, Kenyatta became its most famous interpreter of Kikuyu traditions through his book ''Facing Mount Kenya''. Jomo Kenyatta was born Kamau Wa Muigai at Ng'enda village, Gatundu Division, Kiambu to Muigai and Wambui. He was Kenya's first Prime Minister (1963–1964) and later its President (1964–1978). His date of birth, sometime in the early to mid 1890s, is unclear. In 1914, he was baptized a Christian and given the name John Peter which he changed to Johnstone. He again later changed his name to Jomo in 1938. He adopted the name of Jomo Kenyatta taking his first name from the Kikuyu word for "burning spear" and his last name from the masai word for the bead belt that he often wore. Jomo Kenyatta
Jomo Kenyatta (22 August 1978) was a Kenyan anti-colonial activist and politician who governed Kenya as its Prime Minister from 1963 to 1964 and then as its first President from 1964 to his death in 1978. He played a significant role in the transformation of Kenya from a colony of the British Empire into an independent republic. Ideologically an African nationalist and a conservative, he led the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party from 1961 until his death. Kenyatta was born to Kikuyu farmers in Kiambu, British East Africa. Educated at a mission school, he worked in various jobs before becoming politically engaged through the Kikuyu Central Association. In 1929, he travelled to London to lobby for Kikuyu land affairs. Margaret Kenyatta (mayor)
Margaret Wambui Kenyatta (16 February 1928 – 5 April 2017) was a Kenyan politician. She was the daughter of the first President of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta, and his wife Grace Wahu. She served as the mayor of Nairobi from 1970 to 1976 and as Kenya's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1976 to 1986. She was thereafter appointed as a Commissioner with the Electoral Commission of Kenya from 1992 to 2002. Rage Against The Machine
Rage Against the Machine (often abbreviated as RATM or shortened to Rage) was an American Rock music, rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1991. It consisted of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk. They melded Rap metal, heavy metal and rap music, punk rock and funk with anti-authoritarian, Anti-capitalism, anti-capitalist, and revolutionary lyrics. Tom Morello
Thomas Baptist Morello (born May 30, 1964) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and political activist. He is known for his tenure with the rock bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. Between 2016 and 2019, Morello was a member of the supergroup Prophets of Rage. Morello was also a touring musician with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Under the moniker the Nightwatchman, Morello released his solo work. Together with Boots Riley, he formed Street Sweeper Social Club. Morello co-founded Axis of Justice, which airs a monthly program on Pacifica Radio station KPFK (90.7 FM) in Los Angeles. Born in Harlem, New York, and raised in Libertyville, Illinois, Morello became interested in music and politics while in high school. Ngethe Njoroge
Ng'ethe Njoroge (10 November 1928 – 24 December 2023) was a Kenyan journalist and diplomat. In 1970, Njoroge assumed the role of Kenyan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, a position he held until 1979. He was married to Mary Morello, with whom he had one child, the musician Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. Biography Njoroge was born to a Kikuyu people, Kikuyu family in the Colony of Kenya. Nana Gecaga (born 1978), is a Kenyan businesswoman and corporate executive, who served as the CEO of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), from April 1, 2016 to December 29, 2022. Grace Wanjiru Njue (born 1979) is a female race walker from Kenya. She is a three-time African Championships in Athletics, African Champion and a Commonwealth Games medallist. Gatundu
Gatundu is a small town in Kiambu County of Kenya. It is known for the first Kenyan president Jomo Kenyatta who lived about three kilometres away from the town, as well as his son, Uhuru Kenyatta, the 4th President of Kenya and former Member of Parliament representing Gatundu South Constituency.
