Kenneth Mackenzie Clark, Baron Clark (13 July 1903 – 21 May 1983) was a British art historian, museum director and broadcaster. His expertise covered a wide range of artists and periods, but he is particularly associated with Italian Renaissance art, most of all that of Leonardo da Vinci. After running two art galleries in the 1930s and 1940s, he came to wider public notice on television, presenting a succession of programmes on the arts from the 1950s to the 1970s, the largest and best known being the ''Civilisation (TV series), Civilisation'' series in 1969. The son of rich parents, Clark was introduced to the arts at an early age. Among his early influences were the writings of John Ruskin, which instilled in him the belief that everyone should have access to great art. Kenny Clarke
Kenneth Clarke Spearman (January 9, 1914January 26, 1985), known professionally as Kenny Clarke and nicknamed Klook, was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. A major innovator of the bebop style of drumming, he pioneered the use of the ride cymbal to keep time rather than the hi-hat, along with the use of the bass drum for irregular accents ("dropping bombs"). Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was orphaned at the age of about five and began playing the drums when he was eight or nine on the urging of a teacher at his orphanage. Turning professional in 1931 at the age of seventeen, he moved to New York City in 1935 when he began to establish his drumming style and reputation. As the house drummer at Minton's Playhouse in the early 1940s, he participated in the after-hours jams that led to the birth of bebop. Kenneth Herbert Clarke (born 23 May 1949) is the former Mission Director of South American Mission Society, SAMS UK & Ireland. He was Bishop of Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh from 2001 until 2012. Biography Clarke grew up in Holywood, Co. Down, Northern Ireland and was educated at Sullivan Upper School and Trinity College, Dublin, and ordained in 1972, his first posts were Curate, curacies at Magheralin and Dundonald, County Down, Dundonald. He then served as a missionary in Chile, following which he was Rector (ecclesiastical), Rector of Crinken Church, Dublin, and then Rector of Coleraine and Archdeacon of Dalriada before elevation to the episcopate as the 17th bishop of the Diocese of Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh in the Church of Ireland. Kenneth Donovan Clark (June 4, 1927 – June 1, 2009) was an American B movie actor. He appeared in movies in the United States and Europe, including the Secret Agent 077 trilogy, '' South Pacific'', and a number of Spaghetti Westerns. Early years Clark was born in Neffs, Ohio. He enlisted in the Navy when he was 17, and after being honorably discharged, he sought a career as an actor. When that effort was unsuccessful, he found employment as a model and as a construction worker. He also worked as a coal miner in the mid 1950s near Cadiz, Ohio. Kenneth Inman Carr Clark (31 July 1922 – 10 June 2012) was a New Zealand-born British ceramicist, best known for his decorative tiles. Early life and family Born in Wellington, New Zealand, on 31 July 1922, Clark was the son of Aubrey Sherman Clark, a farms inspector, and his wife, Annie Barbara Louisa Clark (née Inman). Through his mother, Clark was a great-grandson of William Inman, founder of passenger shipping company, the Inman Line. On his father's side, he was related to the 18th-century English architect, John Carr. Clark spent most of his childhood in Nelson and was educated at Nelson College from 1937 to 1941, where he won several prizes for drawing.
