Valerie Olukemi A "Kemi" Olusanya (13 October 1963 – 25 April 1999), commonly known by her stage name Kemistry, was a leading English drum and bass DJ of the early 1990s, half of duo Kemistry & Storm, and co-founder of the Metalheadz record label. Career Born in Birmingham, Olusanya grew up in Kettering, Northamptonshire, and began a career as a make-up artist before giving it up for DJing in the early 1990s. She was half of the DJ and recording duo Kemistry & Storm, which she formed with an old friend when they both lived in London. They both started out playing on pirate radio stations Touchdown and Defection FM. With Goldie, they formed the Metalheadz record label. After two and a half years at the label, they moved on to concentrate on DJing and also released a widely distributed mix album, '' DJ-Kicks: Kemistry & Storm'', which has been described as "paving the way for other, younger, female DJs". Kemistry & Storm were an English drum and bass DJ and recording duo, composed of Kemistry (Valerie Olukemi A "Kemi" Olusanya) and Storm (Jayne Conneely). They were active in the 1990s. Along with Goldie, they founded the Metalheadz label in 1994. Appearing mainly on the club scene, recordings by the act include the mix album '' DJ-Kicks: Kemistry & Storm'' (1999). They were recognized for being "some of the first women DJs to have a widely distributed album" in a "male-dominated genre of music". In April 1999, Olusanya died in a car accident at the age of 35. Metalheadz is a major drum and bass record label based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1994 by Kemistry & Storm and Goldie. History Origins Goldie's early experiences of the rave scene, especially the club ''Rage'' had a profound effect on him. DJ Kemistry introduced him to 4hero's Reinforced Records where he went on to create some design and artwork for them, leading to doing A&R for the label. Timeless (Goldie Album)
''Timeless'' is the debut studio album by British electronic musician Goldie. The album was released on 7 August 1995 and is widely regarded as a groundbreaking release in the history of drum and bass music. History Goldie was joined in the studio by engineer/producer Rob Playford (founder of the Moving Shadow label), who did most of the programming and production, with Goldie generating the musical ideas, rhythms and arrangements. Additional engineering and production came from Dillinja, and Dego and Marc Mac of 4hero. Diane Charlemagne and Lorna Harris contributed the bulk of the vocals. The title track of ''Timeless'' includes what has become the most recognisable and crossover hit from the album, " Inner City Life". Goldie
Clifford Joseph Price MBE (born 19 September 1965), better known as Goldie, is an English music producer, DJ, and actor. Initially gaining exposure for his work as a graffiti artist, Goldie became well known for his pioneering role as a musician in the 1990s UK jungle, drum and bass and breakbeat hardcore scenes. He released a variety of singles under the pseudonym Rufige Kru and co-founded the label Metalheadz. He later released several albums under his own name, including the 1995 album '' Timeless'', which entered the UK charts at number 7. A cat's eye or road stud is a retroreflective Road safety, safety device used in road marking and was the first of a range of raised pavement markers. The cat's eye, when illuminated by the lights of an approaching car, becomes very visible as a marker.
