Hermann Kastner
Hermann Kastner (1886–1957) was a German politician and served as the deputy prime minister of East Germany between 1949 and 1950. He cofounded Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (LDPD). He defected and obtained political asylum from West Germany shortly before he died in Munich. Early life and education Kastner was born in Berlin on 25 October 1886. His father was a teacher. After graduating from a high school in Berlin in 1904 he received a degree in law and economics from the University of Berlin in 1908. Next year he obtained his doctorate degree in law from the University of Jena with a dissertation on the Reich Vaccination Law of 1874. In his thesis Kastner adopted a liberal approach towards the vaccination laws arguing that compulsory vaccination should be removed and that those who did not want to be vaccinated should only be charged an amount of money. Peter Kastner
Peter Kastner (1 October 1943 – 18 September 2008) was a Canadian actor who achieved prominence as a young man in lead roles in the popular 1964 film '' Nobody Waved Good-bye'' and in Francis Ford Coppola's 1966 well-received comedy ''You're a Big Boy Now''. He also had a leading role in another film as a young man in 1971 and in a sequel of his debut film in 1984. Additionally, he starred in two short-lived television situation comedy series of 1968 and 1977. Kastner Train
The Kastner train is the name usually given to a rescue operation which saved the lives of over 1,600 Jews from Hungary during World War II. It consisted of 35 cattle wagons that left Budapest on 30 June 1944, during the German occupation of Hungary, ultimately arriving safely in Switzerland after a large ransom was paid to the Nazis.For 30 June, see Bauer (1994), p. 199; for the date and time (30 June, towards 11 pm), see Löb (2009), pp. 50, 97; for 35 cattle trucks, see p. 97. Porter (2007), p. 234, writes that the train left Budapest at half an hour after midnight on Saturday, 1 July. The number of passengers most often cited is 1,684. Robert William Kastner (30 August 1928 – 11 April 2021), commonly known as R.W. Kastner or Kas Kastner, was a builder and tuner of racing cars, a racing driver, and an author. He also raced sailing boats competitively. At different times he was Director of Motorsports in the United States for both the Triumph Motor Company and Nissan.
