Kanoon
''Kanoon'' () is a 1960 Indian Hindi-language courtroom drama film directed by B. R. Chopra. The film stars Rajendra Kumar, Nanda, Ashok Kumar, Mehmood, Shashikala, Jeevan and Om Prakash. The film presents a case against capital punishment, arguing that witnesses may be genuinely deceived, and their consequent inadvertently tendered false testimony may lead someone wrongly to be convicted and hanged. The film was a courtroom drama related with a murder case, where the judge's prospective son-in-law (Rajendra Kumar) is the defence lawyer in a case of murder, for which he suspects his would-be father-in-law. The film was the second songless Hindi talkie. The first one was '' Naujawan'', made in 1937. ''Kanoon'' also called ''The Law'' is a 1943 Indian Hindi-Urdu romantic drama film directed by A. R. Kardar. Produced by Kardar for "Kardar Productions", the film is based on a social issue involving an arranged marriage between an older man to a girl who is younger than his son. The music director was Naushad who after '' Sharda'' (1942), once again made a young Suraiya give playback for Mehtab. The story was by Qabli Amritsari with screenplay and lyrics by D. N. Madhok. ''Kanoon'' is an Indian television courtroom drama/crime series. The 111-episode Hindi series had its original run from 1993 to 1996 on DD Metro. It was produced by B. R. Chopra and directed by his son Ravi Chopra. The music was composed by Ravi. Make-up for the series was done by Vimal Devkar. The concept of the story was given by Satish Bhatnagar, Sachin Bhowmik, Kulwant Jain and Hasan Kamal. Four seasons of the show were telecasted. Each episode ran for approximately 25 minutes and began with a title song rendered by Mahendra Kapoor. Summary This TV serial by the Bollywood producer B. R. Qanun (instrument)
The qanun, kanun, ganoun or kanoon (; ; ; , ''qanun''; , ''qānūn''; ; ; ) is a Middle Eastern string instrument played either solo, or more often as part of an ensemble, in much of Iran, Arab East, and Arab Maghreb region of North Africa, later it reached West Africa, Central Asia due to Arab migration. It was also common in ancient (and modern-day) Armenia, and Greece. The name derives ultimately from Ancient Greek: κανών kanōn, meaning "rule, law, norm, principle". The qanun traces one of its origins to a stringed Assyrian instrument from the Old Assyrian Empire, specifically from the nineteenth century BC in Mesopotamia. This instrument came inscribed on a box of elephant ivory found in the old Assyrian capital Nimrud (ancient name: ''Caleh'').
